So will this be set in the original Star Trek universe or the Chris Pine one? I'm not a huge Star Trek fan but I love that all those TV shows and movies share a universe.

I have a feeling this will focus on a small group abandoned on a remote planet. Sort of like the original Gene Rodenberry ‘western in space’ concept. Ideally Kirk and crew - perhaps with some pretty scary Klingons thrown in. I’d love it to be a Picard story though with some seriously hard hitting acting.

I have liked the recent Trek movies. That saying, this could shake things up in a good way.

@LaserKing - I actually wanted Tarantino for either a Lobo film or to produce + direct a Netflix Blade series.

Quentin's Star Trek

1h 30 minutes of dialogue, a 15 minute fight scene and 10 minutes of credits and 5 minutes of the F-Bomb.

Isn’t Tarantino 100% against any type of CGI in his movies? Even the sci-fi movies that are made today, that make the most effort in including as much practical effects, and real sets as they can logistically do... still have a shit ton of CGI in them. And I’m not even talking about him doing complex CGI characters, I mean, the sets, the new worlds, all the different stuff in space.., it’s hard to believe he’ll be able to do a Star Trek movie without a healthy amount of CGI involved. It’s hard for me to picture what it is that he plans to do, if he’s really gonna refuse to use it. I love when a director makes an effort to include as much practical effects as they can, but I think a lot of us just write off CGI as bad and fake, while there’s a ton of CGI work that goes unnoticed and unappreciated... well, If it happens, this will be interesting.
