Check Out Ralph McQuarrie's Unused Logo Designs For STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back is arguably the greatest instalment of the franchise to date and its logo is every bit as iconic as the movie itself. Here are some very cool unused designs...

With Star Wars: The Last Jedi right around the corner and Episode IX is in the works, but once upon a time, concept artists like Ralph McQuarrie were hard at work on a little-known movie called The Empire Strikes Back. With such an iconic logo, it should come as no surprise to learn that a lot of hard work was put into that and thanks to the Instagram account below, we have a look at some early versions.

McQuarrie clearly went through a lot of different takes on the now iconic logo before he and Star Wars creator George Lucas were happy with the one we ended up seeing adorning posters to this very day. 

Any one of these logos could have ended up being every bit as recognisable as the one we got, but it's hard to escape the feeling that the right choice was ultimately made.
