@BlackBeltJones - The editor/fight choreographer for this film did a really poor job when it came to this scene.

@Nebula - I like these guys and I’ve seen it.

Really go in on the sequence. I’ve seen other action oriented YT channels examine the fight too and it’s not as great as advertised.

One of the spot on critiques I heard was that the fight oddly benefits from how it has a lot is going on and that distracts from the fact that it skimps on the finer details that would make it something special if implemented. But in the age of eagle eyed viewers, that doesn’t work.

@Necropolitan - That’s because the choreographer’s main foundation for all do this was PLOT lol. The guards “knew” who they were fighting. Look at their body language and choice of attack.

Best lightsaber fight in all of Star Wars and it isn't even close

My favorite bit will always be how tense and uncertain Rey and Kylo are in this sequence. Really adds to how chaotic the scene was.

@MrLuciass - The prequel fights are overdone and lack tension (largely in part due to us knowing how it all ends up) but also lack a soul because everything is so intentionally outlandish. That's not to say they're bad, it's just that they almost become a parody (which is why they're so regularly memed to death)

The OT fights are also good.....but they're from decades ago, don't have good choreography, movement (Vader obviously) and are incredibly dated. Again, not bad just, not a fair comparison to something so much newer and better shot

I haven't watched Clone Wars or whatever that animated vid is from (I need to watch all the animated SW stuff), but I'm mostly referring to live action stuff anyway

@OmegaDaGrodd - More outlandish than rey who has used a lightsaber in battle once and practicing by hitting rocks beating supreme commander guards? Or kylo ren dropping his lightsaber midbattle. And souless. Like Anakin and Obi wan, father and son fighting? and while some moments are memed to death. The prequels battles are still the best.

So say tension and choegraphy are good. But you have watched the scene closely. The Og fights makes sense. And are waay more tense. up to the point of luke getting his hand cut off. And better shot.



Well to each their own. But the guards dont even have lightsabers.
