Epic Games' popular battle royale game Fortnite is no stranger when it comes to celebrating massive cultural icons and milestones. The game has hosted celebratory events for TV shows (Stranger Things), musicians (Marshmello), movies (Avengers, John Wick), and even other games (Borderlands 3, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order).

Next week, Fortnite will play host for an event dedicated to the upcoming theatrical release of Disney and Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

According to in-game posters and a special announcement from Epic Games, an exclusive scene from The Rise of Skywalker will premiere within the game itself on December 14. The scene will be shown in Fortnite's Risky Reels — an in-game location themed like a drive-in theater — with doors opening at 1:30 p.m. ET and the actual scene playing at 2:00 p.m EST.

The announcement poster makes mention of J.J. Abrams, suggesting viewers will also be treated to a special message from the movie's director.

Last month, Fortnite also helped celebrate the release of EA's game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, by releasing a special Imperial Stormtrooper cosmetic skin.

Epic Games seems to have a good relationship with Disney. In addition to creating special game modes for the Marvel's Avengers movies, Fortnite also briefly popped up on-screen in Avengers: Endgame. Risky Reels also played a brief clip of Wreck-It Ralph to help promote the release of its sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet, earlier this year.

Fortnite is a free-to-play game so if you want to catch the scene, all you have to do is download the game across one of the many platforms it's available for. It's unclear if the scene will be released online after the in-game event.

Not because of fortnite, but I wont watch the clip. Or any clip for that matter. I'm just not gonna watch any clip or scene anymore, hope none of the leaks are true and gonna enjoy the movie to the fullest in two weeks

@Scarilian - Based on what? As long as the movie isn't out we cannot know for certain, no matter how many ''insiders'' confirm them

I wound up rewatching most of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi a couple different nights last week. Can someone please explain to me, what is it with Luke that many of the people who despised this movie with a passion think he was SUPPOSED to have done that he didn't? Mind you this is not me giving a flat out glowing review of the film, I'm somewhere in the middle on it. I was alright on all the Luke and Rey stuff, it was the whole Finn/Rose side plot that really tested my patience, hence me fast fwding much in my rewatch (& obv that's not endorsing all of the online harrassment that happened to that actress, that was psychopathic and despicable).

For one (& I think I may have said this before on the boards here), what Rian Johnson did with Luke seemed a very natural extension of the concept that JJ Abrams set up to begin with. There's a reason he was so far removed from the rest of the world, and it's not like he would've been clueless, like he NEEDED to have Rey come and tell him that there's still this fascistic nefarious shit going on out in the galaxy by remnants of the Empire.
Is it that you think Luke didn't act heroicly enough, and have this energized call to action quickly to go and do battle with the resistance? Because, that sounds a lot like what he did in ESB, and many of the TLJ complainers also seem to be the ones lamenting that TFA was already too much of a warmed over A New Hope.

Luke did agree to help Rey, and in fact the WAY that he "returned" to help in the big final fight with the First Order I would argue directly led to all the people being able to safely escape. If he'd literally physically shown up, it seems like it'd actually have been a lot easier for him to be put down and not be a meaningful element to the situation.

Okay, this genuinely isn't like me standing here and shouting to everyone how great the film is and all the rest are wrong (like I said it wasn't great, I liked it less than Force awakens), I'm just not sure what it was that Luke didn't do that you guys wanted him to that makes you loathe the movie to such a degree and go on about how Rian Johnson "ruined Star Wars".

Luke Skywalker wouldn't contemplate murdering his sleeping nephew especially based on a vision of the future...he KNOWS they are unreliable. Also hyperspacing a ship into another ship was [frick]ing stupid, why isn't everyone doing that?

@nikgrid - You're speaking the truth.
I can concede that Luke might decide against the jedi way. That alone can make sense if he has found some definite evidence that the jedis have things wrong. But even if he refuses to use the force, he can still be of some sort of support to his family and friends in whatever their struggles may be. He wouldn't just go away and never return. That is SO NOT LUKE AT ALL

And that's why The Last Jedi was the absolute dead end. They need to disacknowledge it to go forward. And they won't. So, Star Wars is over. Things aren't working so long as that is canon.

@ImmovableForce - "...he can still be of some sort of support to his family and friends in whatever their struggles may be."

Right. For example Superman was the cause of the kryptonians coming to Earth in MoS, but if Rian Jonson had written Superman's character the same way he wrote Luke, Clark would probably have said "Sorry Lois even though I have all these powers and could definitely help you humans...and I caused this...I'm going to my fortress and stay out of the fight because somehow I believe I would make things worse" WTF?!

@CaptCoulson -
Luke went out of his way to redeem Vader (his father).

It makes no sense that Luke would not try and redeem Kylo (The son of his best friend and his sister who he even had romantic feelings for at one stage).

Not only that but Luke intentionally leaves a map with R2D2 and the old guy in TFA, the reasoning behind this is never explained in the films and contradicts TLJ's Luke if he did not want to be found.

Revised version;
• Luke seclude himself because he did everything he could to redeem Kylo only for it to fail, he is demotivated and has lost hope
• Luke cannot bring himself to kill Kylo
• Luke knows that history has painted a target on him so he purposefully excludes himself and waits in the hope someone else will defeat Kylo
• Luke leaves a map in the hopes that once everything has blown over people will come find him
• Luke is reluctant to help Rey in the final battle because he does not want to kill or hurt Kylo because he cares so much for him
• Luke's compassion and hope that Kylo can be redeemed prevents him from doing what needs to be done
• Rey reminds him of his younger self, convincing him to intervene
• Luke eventually joins the fight and does so to delay Kylo to allow the others to escape, he still cannot bring himself to hurt Kylo
• Luke, realising that Kylo is mostly motivated by his anger against Luke for failing him, sacrifices himself to try and dispel the hatred for him that Kylo feels

Every act Luke does in this revised version is for the sole purpose of redeeming Kylo or allowing Kylo every chance to redeem himself. It fits completely with his character and feels like a natural extension of his character from the OT.
