They already did a Seven Samurai style episode in The Clone Wars and partially even in The Mandalorian, so I don't need a movie of it too.

And don't think Snyder ever fit with the Star Wars universe. In my opinion he should focus on creating his own universe with original characters.

You know, as long as he's not the writer, I wouldn't even be that opposed to this.

@InfinitePunches - I agree. I'm certainly not a fan of Snyder, but can admit that he's decent with visuals and action. If he's visually bringing to life a story defined by a better writer (like 300) I could see him doing a decent job. Maybe something set during the war between Jedi and Mandalorians or focused on the Sith.

hmmmm..........I wouldn't oppose to a Mandalorian episode directed by him, even if just for the sheer weird novelty of it. granted, only as a director, let the other guys handle the script.

@Spidey91 - He could frame some iconic shots and probably bring a heck of a great fight scene.

Is it me or is getting Snyder a lot more easy going with his comments? I'm liking this new down-to earth and self aware way of talking of his.
Compared to Mr. "In my universe Batman could get raped" that's a welcome change.

As for Star Wars: if Snyder works with a good script not written by him I'd hand him an episode of Mandalorian to test the waters, if he does well a small-scale Disney+ movie with little risk could be the next step.

Like I always said: Snyder is a visual mastermind but a terrible story-teller

@Blergh - If you watch interviews he actually always has been pretty easygoing and seemingly very nice. He just controversial so usually what he says gets clipped out and spun. Even the Batman rape comment was extremely out of context bc it gets clicks to make him look outlandish

He’s not a good fit for any franchise and Star Wars is a franchise...so yeah not a good fit for Star Wars.

@TheUnworthyThor - its hard enough for Snyder not the get fired from the one franchise that will have him... and rumor is he is only being allowed to 'finish' JL to keep the plague from reaching other companies

There are other things he's not a good fit for...

StarWars is not in good shape for a very divisive director haha

But i would see him do a self-contained narrative that doesn't impact the bigger picture and known characters.. like a commando of unknowns against Sith doing crazy stuff a la 300. That'd be fun to watch.

If there's a DC director I want to see directing a Star Wars episode or movie, she's Patty Jenkins. She is perfect for "guiding" Ashoka and Sabine.

The only director (i dont know which one) I wanna see is the one that will bring the Old Republic to life.
A director that will be able to do something as memorable as Gladiator/Braveheart

A man that ruined iconic characters for many people thinks another franchise is no longer a fit because of how they changed it from when he was a fan.

Religious iconography, complete lack of consistent story or tone, retcons galore, dark backdrops like space and swamps? How is Snyder not perfect for Star Wars?

There aren't the right circumstances for a Snyder Star Wars movie at the moment. Maybe there could be, but probably not, and definitely not now.
VicSage

I give the guy a hard time, but I could definitely see him as part of the new Star Wars team. I'd love to see him do an episode or two of The Mandalorian.

The thing with Snyder is that he is a great visual director, not much different from say Michael Bay, but without an amazing script or boundaries to work within, they can run rampant. They need to be contained to a degree. I know, sounds horrible. Bay should not have been handed the keys to the Transformers franchise in much the same way Snyder should not have been given the DC films carte Blanche.

Snyder can work with Star Wars, especially with bringing to life the initial Jedi and Sith conflict. But he should not be responsible for the entire direction of that story.
