Kevin Feige Addresses STAR WARS Fatigue And His Planned Movie Set In A Galaxy Far, Far Away

It's no secret that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is looking to make the leap to Star Wars to produce a movie set in that Galaxy and he's now weighed in on both his film and "franchise fatigue."

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will conclude the "Skywalker Saga" and once that's done, no one really knows what comes next for the franchise on the big screen. It has, however, been confirmed that Marvel Cinematic Universe mastermind Kevin Feige is looking to produce an adventure set in a Galaxy Far, Far Away, news which has got fans very excited indeed.

"I love that world and I love the notion of exploring new people and new places in that universe," he said during a recent interview with THR. "But that’s sort of all that can be said for now."

So, it sounds more like an original tale than a continuation of any story we've seen before but it's clearly still early days and we know that Feige is a pro when it comes to keeping secrets.

He was then asked about possible franchise fatigue with Star Wars and it's clear that's not a notion he agrees with. "Well they’ve made about five movies in about five years and it’s made over five billion dollars," he responded, "so I think they’re doing just fine with Star Wars. And Rise of Skywalker looks incredible to me." It's a fair point but interest in the franchise does seem to be diminishing.

That's why Disney is now putting Star Wars movies on hiatus and going back to the drawing board to see where they can take things next. Having Feige in their corner might be their smartest move to date, though, and it's going to be interesting seeing how his effort ultimately comes together.

@MrCamw1 - Star Wars in my opinion will thrive on Disney+ as expansions to the series. The movies themselves are massive but with Disney+ they can have an even bigger cohesive story set on different planets with new characters while also expanding old characters too. I think Maul would be great as a Disney+ series.

@SonOfAGif - I agree, Mandalorian and the Cassian shows are gonna be quite fun. The Kenobi series can tie into the SOLO franchise and connect it to EPISODE IV.

Im still hoping for a SKYWALKER show to show the events after VI with Sebastian Stan in the role (crazy how close he looks like Mark Hamill).

Keeping on the Star Wars subject, have you guys read about the test screenings and Lucas having to come in and salvage it? Wonder why this site isnt reporting on it. Cosmic book news has a good read on it as well as youtube going nuts over it and the spoilers that have been confirmed months ago. Yikes!

What an utterly stupid remark - he's talking out of his ass.

The first movie made the most and each film since has shown a staggering decline in audience reception, quality and box office. This would be a nightmare for any business and yet he's pretending its fine because it made $5b in five years? What?

You cannot pretend that $5b over five years is impressive when the license to the franchise cost $4, Galaxy's Edge cost $1b and the cost of making those five movies is around $2-3b.

Would a response like that suit you? Or have you not realized that Feige is a PR manager's wet dream and would never denigrate the work of a rival let alone a co-worker no matter how he himself truly feels.

Eeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhh, careful Lord Feige. I agree, they've made a lot of money recently. But there really is something to Star Wars being a special event of sorts in the theatre. I'm beyond hyped for the Mandelorian, I want to see some Star Wars shows. But, even Bob Iger admitted they need to take a 'less is more approach' to this property. I think someone as smart as Kevin realizes that. Star Wars isn't the MCU.
