Star Wars: The Last Jedi divided fans of the franchise but it was still a critical and commercial hit and Lucasfilm wasted no time in signing writer and director Rian Johnson to a new trilogy.

During a recent interview to promote his new movie Knives Out, Johnson was asked about his future in the Star Wars franchise. After revealed that the studio is currently in the process of "figuring out what they're doing," the filmmaker mentioned that he would "be thrilled if it happens."

The key word there appears to be "if" and it certainly doesn't sound 100% certain right now.

Disney CEO Bob Iger has said that Lucasfilm is going back to the drawing board after Solo: A Star Wars Story underperformed and that could mean both this trilogy and the one plotted out by David Benioff And D.B. Weiss don't move forward (instead, the studio's priority appears to be taking us to a Galaxy Far, Far Away on Disney+).

Disney won't do it. They are too scared that Johnson will bring them bad publicity.
Too bad: TLJ was flawed, but had some of the best bits of the entire saga.

@LarryDee - I'm curious what bits of TLJ you think were the best in the whole saga.
