Lucasfilm Has Now Denied The Report That Standalone STAR WARS Films Have Been Put On Hold Lucasfilm Has Now Denied The Report That Standalone STAR WARS Films Have Been Put On Hold

Despite a seemingly reliable report to the contrary, it seems the rumor that Lucasfilm shelved the "Star Wars Story" spinoff movies that are currently in the works may have been premature. Check it out...

We recently reported on a rumor that claimed Disney/Lucasfilm had decided to put their planned standalone Star Wars movies on hold after the disappointing box office performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story, but it looks like this may not be the case after all.

ABC's sources reached out to Lucasfilm who called the report “inaccurate” and "speculative at best." In fact, they say there are "multiple" Star Wars films currently in development that have not been officially announced, that will move forward separate from Rian Johnson's new trilogy and another series of movies from Game of Thrones producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

Of course, this doesn't mean that certain changes aren't going to be implemented, and Lucasfilm could still have shelved certain projects (a Solo sequel and that Lando spinoff are almost certainly not gonna happen), but it does bode well for James Mangold's Boba Fett and that still-not officially announced Obi Wan Kenobi movie heading into production.

Oh, we also have this from EW's Anthony Breznican.

@JohnnyTBP -
Disney and the media are attacking Star Wars fans at every opportunity they get, they have never acknowledged any legitimate criticism and have no desire to make movies the fans actually want to see.

At this stage they should be wanting to appeal to the fans, instead they are continuing a silly decision of wanting to make spin-off's that nobody asked for and sequels that continually drive fans away.

@Scarilian - lucas arts just has to make a good ep 9 & fans will be back. most only skipped solo becuz it was not a true episode. fan opinion never matter to lucasfilms even during the prequels, why should it matter now? SW is going to be fine.

they hired jj abrams to give fans the same rehash as ep 7 was so most likely he will just cater to the fans again, unlike rian johnson who was trying to move fans on.

Didn’t Collider break this story?? Those guys should catch hell if this ends up being untrue. Typical sensationalism journalism these days. Who cares is it’s true or not. Just be the first to report it!!

An Obi-Wan movie or a Darth Vader movie both would play better than what they have set up with ix, with Kylo and Rey. Especially since for some weird reason they have gone out of their way to make the big bad villain the underdog and the hero untouchable.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the Sixers drafted and then traded Mikal Bridges, hometown Villanova product, to the Suns mere minutes after he and his mother, the VP of HR for the Sixers, cried tears of joy that he would get to play for his hometown team...

What I would want.

Vader film: Him and his Inqusitors taking on Maul Crimson Dawn. Maul hints that he faced Vader in rebels ("I cannot defeat Vader alone"), and it obvious due to his exile on Malachor that he loose Crimson Dawn. I also think Maul could provide a good challenge to Vader.

Obi-wan film: though I don't know what they can really do. In canon via the Star Wars comics we have seen him learn all his lessons on Tattoine (eg having to have injustices happen and not help people otherwise he could be exposed), + has saved Luke many times form thugs/bounty hunters.

Seige of Mandalore film: solo revealed to general audiences Maul is alive. This film introduces Ahsoka. Her and Mandalorians vs Maul and his Mandalorians forces. Plus, we would have cameos from Anakin and Obiwan, as we know this is the last time Ahsoka interacted with Anakin (before they leave for the opening of RotS).
