Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Reportedly Has No Ambition To Take Charge Of Lucasfilm And STAR WARS

There have been rumours for a long time now that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige may be considering making the leap to Lucasfilm, but it sounds like he's planning to remain in charge of the MCU...

If you're big into YouTube and the anti-Kathleen Kennedy movement, then you'll have heard the rumour about Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige taking charge of Lucasfilm countless times. It's no secret that Feige is a huge fan of the Star Wars franchise (he's even producing an upcoming movie) and it's clear he would be well-suited to bring that MCU magic to a Galaxy Far, Far Away.

Currently, he's busy focusing on that shared comic book world, but could his untitled Star Wars movie really open the door to him running two major franchises for Disney?

Variety reports that of all the different studio executives who report to Disney (such as Pixar's Jim Morris), Feige is viewed as "the most essential" thanks to the success of the MCU both in theaters and Disney+. That's no great surprise, of course, though given the way Star Wars has struggled to connect with audiences since 2015's The Force Awakens, he'd be a logical choice of successor to Kennedy.

Well, it's not happening.

"After it was announced in 2019 that Feige would produce a 'Star Wars' movie, there were rumors that he might assume more control of Lucasfilm," the trade notes. "However, insiders say that Feige is fully committed with his Marvel duties and has no ambition to lead Lucasfilm or take more of a role."

Despite controversial creative decisions that failed to win over Star Wars fans, The Mandalorian has restored a lot of faith in Lucasfilm's plans for the franchise. How long that will last could hinge on the rest of the shows coming to Disney+, not to mention where the studio takes this Galaxy on the big screen.
