Ron Howard, the director of Solo: A Star Wars Story, wished fans a happy New Year with a fresh behind-the-scenes teaser image from the upcoming Han Solo prequel standalone film.

He captioned the photo "We're pretty pumped for 2018," which would make sense considering Solo flies into theaters in May of this year.

With just a few months left until Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters, we can expect Disney and Lucasfilm to begin a more official marketing campaign in the coming weeks. There's a lot of questions and skepticism surrounding Solo, mostly stemming from production rumors, so a trailer will certainly be welcomed by fans who may be on the fence for a prequel movie about our famous smuggler.

Howard's teaser image follows a leaked magazine issue containing some new plot details that tease "a different Solo" than the one we are used to from the original trilogy. Whether this new Han Solo, played by actor Alden Ehrenreich, will resonate with fans remains to be seen.

Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters May 25, 2018.

Is it because Arrested Development comes back this year?

Evening all,
I’m looking forward to SOLO but given the history of the making of this film to date I am going on with relatively low expectations and hoping that it success beyond these low expectations!!
As a life long Star Wars fan who was 4 years old when ANH was released I am still somewhat confused by the backlash towards TLJ! Personally I really enjoyed the film and went in knowing that this would be a slightly different SW film to what we are used to and that there would be some changes to the SW universe as we know or! We were all pre-warned about this during the promotional material and behind the scenes footage and interviews that were released beforehand!
It seems to me that most people who complained that TFA was s retread of ANH are now in uproar as TLJ was not a retread of TESB! The venom and hate directed at Disney and the director on YouTube is incredible..... no it’s not a perfect film...... there is no such thing!!
As for not finding out who Snoke was..... who cares? We did not know who Palpaltine was in 1983 and did not discover who he was until 1999! Reys parentage? - surely making her a Skywalker, Solo, Kenobi or Palpaltine would just make the whole universe fell smaller at a time when the saga is supposed to be expanding. It was the fans that decided that the history / lineage of Snoke and Rey were important issues, the Fans were looking backwards when they should be looking forward!!
I could go on and on defending this very good addition to the Star Wars saga but I have probably gone on enough already!
Rob Howard is a good director with numerous quality films under his belt, I am just not sure if he is suited to Star Wars! Only time will tell!!

@Wobblybob - I’m with you on TLJ. I stayed away from any spoilers to avoid a preconception to this film. I didn’t mind that Snoke died this early in the trilogy or that I don’t know his background. Maybe they’ll mention it in Ep IX.

Rey not having Skywalker/Kenobi or Palpatine blood is cool with me as I think of her as a Muggle with magical abilities.

@MalseMarcel -

Yes, can't believe there is so much promo for this movie 5 months before its release that they almost need to remind us of its existence. Now that Episode VIII has been released for more than two weeks, what are they waiting for ?
