I though most of the first half didn’t work including Alden as Han. Giving him the Solo name was cringe worthy to me but pretty much every after the meet Drieden worked for me and just got better from then on.

@Ha1frican - interesting because I thought the way he got the solo name was kind of cool

I think I mostly agree with this I think the characters that died off in the movie should have been there more

I thought that the idea his real name was never Han Solo was just stupid. All this time and it was made up by a random Imperial officer. But maybe that's just me.

@Nightwing1015 - I thought it was weird that he could remember his father and the time he spent with him, but somehow didn't know his name? Maybe I misunderstood that scene with the Imperial officer but I thought the implication was he had no, or didn't know his family.

The amount of love I've seen for Alden as Han has been surprising.

Here's a list of 20 things that didn't work about Solo.

1. Opening credits
2. Centipenus
3. Han getting his name because some guy gave it to him
4. Han attempting to act like he's tough shit in front of the centipenus
5. Han attempting to act like he's tough shit in front of Woody Harrelson
6. The fact that Woody Harrelson just throws him his blaster and that's the weapon he's been carrying his entire life
7. Fish head in a jar singing backup vocals
8. Paul Bettany's face lighting up whenever he gets mad.
9. The fact that the movie has Rogue Ones aesthetic and the entire movie looks so colorless and washed out
10. Humans and droids can have sex. I did not need to know that.
11. Han saying "We've already got the pilot" followed by awkward smile.
12. Woody Harrelson's friends die before you get a chance to learn anything about them.
13. Han pretending that he knew how they wouldn't send Tai Fighters after the Falcon
14. The fact that the movie kept showing Lando's hand with the spare card as if the audience were too dumb to remember that's how he cheated
15. Paul Bettany got betrayed twice by Emilia Clark and died pathetically (But still better than Snoke)
16. Han trying to bullshit his way out of fighting Enfys Nest
17. Ending battle was anticlimactic. The asteroid chase with the Monster was more intense.
18. Emilia Clark and Darth Maul. Is that ever going to be resolved?
19. Nobody saw the Kessel Run except for the people on board the Falcon, yet somehow Rey has heard about it in the Force Awakens like it was a famous event.
20. Screenwriting 101. What does your character want? Han wants Emilia Clark back, but halfway through the film he gets her back anyway.

@IronMandarin - Some of these are legit gripes, but most are some of the most pedantic nitpicks I've seen on this site.. and that's saying something.
Timerider84
Timerider84 - 5/25/2018, 8:13 AM
@IronMandarin - Yes, he got Qi'Ra back, but what the character wanted was to pay off the debt he owed, because it was kinda his fault, he felt guilty and wanted to make amends to Beckett, because Beckett gave Han and Chewie a chance and he saved him by picking him up, instead of leaving him and Chewie there.
IronMandarin

@RorMachine - Fair. Some of these are just nitpicks that annoyed myself and my mates personally and you can probably tell which are meant to be legit criticisms and which are just meant to be me saying things I thought were stupid, but I have seen greater films than this get nitpicked to death for far less.

@IronMandarin - Actually, after another read through, here's the only thing I agree didn't work:

The Centipenis:)

@IronMandarin - "14. The fact that the movie kept showing Lando's hand with the spare card as if the audience were too dumb to remember that's how he cheated"

This movie is made for children, also. It has nothing to do with a "dumb audience".

@IronMandarin - "20. Screenwriting 101. What does your character want? Han wants Emilia Clark back, but halfway through the film he gets her back anyway."

For all my gripes with the movie (which I thought was OK, mind you, just not particularly memorable nor exciting), this must be the greatest. What goes on right afetr that is sort of "why is Han even doing all of this?" He could just tell Q'ra 'seeya later' and met at a bar or something, rather than getting in all the trouble that follows

L3 is one of the worst things in Star Wars, everyone in my theatre cheered when she died, what an awful idea for a character

This movie has no reason to exist. There's heavy fanfare that falls flat because the characters are terrible/unfamiliar. Alden is canned ass as Han. The script was terrible. Even Donald Glover—who is great at almost everything he does—was miserable. His Lando felt more forced than smooth. Apparently **spoiler** ....... he probably bangs robots. It's basically this film's Luke drinking green titty milk.

LSHF - 5/25/2018, 11:06 AM
@jumpingtheshark - None of the films have a reason to exist, except for entertainment value and money. That is what the original was created for and also the rest of them. George wanted to make a film that would entertain and make him some money. Entertainment and money is the reason they exists.

Donald Glover is the better Lando? You have to be high or insane to think that.

Glover was fine as Lando, but stop overpraising just because he is the flavor of the month at the moment. Man, groupthink is an unbelievable thing
LSHF
LSHF - 5/25/2018, 11:11 AM
@Elle79 - Once again I show up to read some comment about a film but I keep seeing a bunch of people insulting each other. And you don't know "why" that comment was made. You don't know if it is because he is the "flavor of the month". People liked his performances before he did this film, so it is logical that people would like his performance in this film.

Man, mind-reading is an unbelievable thing.
