Solo: A Star Wars Story may not be performing as strongly at the box office as initially expected but the movie's CinemaScore has now been revealed and, well, that also might not be what Disney hoped for.

It appears as if Solo: A Star Wars Story will open quite a bit lower than Rogue One did back in 2016 and while that wouldn't normally be cause for concern, the fact that extensive reshoots caused the budget to skyrocket obviously means that this news might not sit well with Disney. It is, however, early days for the spinoff and it could earn some money back overseas (it won't manage that feat in China, though).

Now, Solo's CinemaScore has been revealed and it's been given an A-. While that's only based on the opinions of a small percentage of moviegoers, that's still the lowest rating of the four Disney-era Star Wars movies and the same result the prequels received upon release between 1999 - 2005.

As of right now, the movie has 71% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 287 reviews (204 Fresh, 83 Rotten). The Critics Consensus reads, "A flawed yet fun and fast-paced space adventure, Solo: A Star Wars Story should satisfy newcomers to the saga as well as longtime fans who check their expectations at the theater door." The Audience Score currently sits at 57% but, as we know, that's easily manipulated.

How would you rate Solo: A Star Wars Story? Let us know your thoughts on that in the usual place.

The movie was fine; not great, not bad. It’s a movie that nobody asked for. The only thing that really got me excited for this movie was Lord & Miller; I thought they would bring a unique style previously unseen in this series… but Kathleen Kennedy poo-pooed it, fired them, hired Ron Howard, and proceeded to make another bland, paint-by-numbers Star Wars prequel. Meh.

@santoanderson - I heard the lord and Miller one was too comedic so they had to scale it back.

I've never found Cinemascore ratings to be full proof. Think about how many films you may have originally liked in the cinema but upon reflection, enjoyed less.

Cinemascore is garbage. End.

it’s a fun movie. A self contained story with a satisfying ending.

I read that Rotten Tomato actually omits extremely low ratings (like 1 star or less) to weed out troll reviews.

Wish I could find that article again.
