I would have rather seen George’s sequel trilogy than the one Disney eventually made. Who knows if they would have been good but it would have been at least interesting based on some of the story ideas he had.

@MovieMonster - i dunno, after that prequel trilogy i wouldnt hope for em being any good :/
The prequel trilogy never felt like Star Wars movies to me

@RokoVII - In my opinion the prequels are much better than the sequels.

@RokoVII - it may be a generational thing since I grew up with the prequels, but i personally loved the distinction between the 2 trilogies that Lucas worked on, and appreciate the subtle tonal and story element connections between the two.

The PT didn't rely on in-your-face nostalgia that the sequels tended to do, and they brought something new to the table while still lending itself to an overarching story (vader's turn)

@Se4M4NSt4ine - that really changed how I saw The Phantom Menace too. I got it was about light vs dark, but not a light vs dark future for Anakin.

@Se4M4NSt4ine -

Dave filoni's interpretation of what he believes the Prequels were intended to mean doesn't make them a good dramatisation of those ideas.

@JFerguson - yeah i understand where you're coming from. For me ep 3 was ok, definetly better than 1 and 2 which had some bad acting and writing, all the characters were just one dimensional. Im not saying they are nothing but bad but a shame they werent better

@MovieMonster - George’s ideas actually weren’t dissimilar to what we ended up getting (young woman protagonist, Luke in hiding, younger Sith villain). His biggest issue was the lack of midichlorians... so if you like midichlorians, keep being disappointed.

@JohnPain - I never said they did... I was simply stating after watching that video I had a new found appreciation of the prequels? That’s all?

@RokoVII - it’s actually only like 10 minutes or something, the guy who reviews it talks in depth for the extra 20 minutes

@Se4M4NSt4ine -Thanks for posting that. Definitely interesting. (I also never realized why it was called Duel of the Fates). Lucas had big themes and ideas for the prequels (and lots of new CGI tricks to break out), but he also fumbled a lot of the smaller, simpler components (like dialogue). Lucas' original plan for the prequels was to have other people direct (Spielberg talked him out of/into it). Maybe that would have been the better way to go. Leaving George free to focus on bigger story arc and CGI/special effects details.

@RokoVII - A lot of what people have come to love about star wars was the concepts Lucas creates, the actors he chose and the editing done by his wife Marcia.
Marcia saved Star Wars from being a terrible mess... and also the entire first trilogy. George did not have Marcia editing on the prequels and they were a bit of a mess. Dave Filoni will tell you stuff about the prequels that will change your mind about how good they were/could have been based on what George intended but didn't come off well enough on screen.
Luckily Dave is now incorporating that larger narrative into Mandalorian and hopefully all future movies with Favreau.

@RokoVII - I agree. its insane that we almost got dicaprio as anakin. wonder if that would have made things better regarding the acting for 2 and 3

@Rosraf - I definitely think you’re right man, I think he got caught up in all the workload and missed the fine tuning of the other stuff that mattered too...

@Se4M4NSt4ine - Maybe its not a bad thing that Star Wars wound up being a pulpy mishmash of different storytelling. Kind of in keeping the sci-fi and fantasy stories that inspired it.

Guarantee that in the alternate timeline where George did the ST, we’d moaning about him further ruining Star Wars.

That's a good reason to not make a movie.

That, and also what repluse said; he probably would've gotten shit on by fanboys again anyway.
