As expected, there will indeed be a Star Wars: Episode IX panel taking place at Celebration Chicago.

The news was officially announced on the latest edition of the Star Wars Show, where it was confirmed that director J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy would take the stage on April 12 to field questions about the highly-anticipated final installment in the Skywalker Saga. Of course, those in attendance can also count on a few surprises and special guests.

Whether one of those surprises turns out to be the first trailer for the movie remains to be seen, but at the very least, we should get a title reveal either during or just before the panel.

Star Wars Celebration Chicago will take place April 11-15 at McCormick Place.

"Will We See The First Trailer?"

Do not even appear to make promises you cannot keep

This is still the GOAT teaser trailer

@OmegaDaGrodd - Oh, the promise this held.

@Soos - All of TFA's were amazing. I can still recite the lines to them all off the top of my head. TLJ's were pretty good too - not anymore though (the prospect of Rey taking Kylo's hand was amazing, but no).

@Soos - It was more than just the Rey-Kylo thing. There's a ton of stuff like that.

I remember watching a video, about why the first trailer for Star Wars Resistance got so much hate, which supposed that it was because nobody knew what to expect. If anyone had simply stated beforehand that it's aimed at a severely younger audience then I doubt it would've amassed 154,000 dislikes.

I often think the same about everything TLJ pulled, especially Luke. They obviously didn't reveal that he's a depressed hermit in the trailers to preserve the subversion, but I don't think it was worth it. The lightsaber toss was too jarring without any forewarning - you don't know how to react (especially since they framed it as a joke).

I remember turning to my dad in the cinema constantly throughout TLJ (be it the lightsaber toss, Holdo not revealing the plan, the your-mom joke) like this..

@OmegaDaGrodd - YOU are not wrong. I think we needed a film like TFA to remind us how good it felt to watch and OT style SW film....and it did. How Rian Johnson [frick]ed it up from there..I just..I have no idea.

@Soos - Yep THAT is the GOAT TFA trailer. That Han Leai remix theme gives me shivers and then we see the legendary Han Solo saying it tru...all of it...so [frick]ING MYTHIC!

God it makes me angry how they [frick]ed up TLJ!

@nikgrid - Probably my favourite Star Wars theme.

If you're banking on JJ Abrams to save this generation of SW you're wasting your time. He can't really retcon the previous movie. He can only move forward with the pieces left to him. I wish him the best of luck.
