STAR WARS: John Boyega On Speaking Out About Finn's Disappointing Arc And What It Would Take To Return

Star Wars sequels actor John Boyega talks more about speaking out against how Finn was treated in the franchise, while also revealing what it would take to convince him to return to a Galaxy Far, Far Away.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was widely branded a disappointment, and fans seemed to be especially let down by the decision to sideline both Finn and Poe Dameron. Their stories ended with more of a whimper than a bang, and actor John Boyega has talked openly about being unhappy, as a Black actor, seeing non-white characters overlooked in the sequels.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he explained how his castmates reacted to his comments.

"I got a text message from Daisy [Ridely], I mean we talk all the time," he revealed. "But to be fair I'm really, really close with my castmates, specifically Oscar [Isaac] and Daisy. Myself and Kelly [Marie Tran] had really transparent and loving conversations that I will never forget for the rest of my career."

"We were all already speaking about things, so me saying this wasn't really a shock to them," Boyega continued. "One must always talk about things so that in moving on for the next actor in that position, that's now not going to be an alien conversation."

Boyega isn't completely closing the door on a potential return to Star Wars, but he has no interest in a solo adventure for Finn. Instead, he hopes to reunite with some familiar faces.

"I don't know what's going on with Star Wars. I'm alive - that's one thing. But it would depend on story and if Daisy [Ridley] and Oscar [Isaac] are coming back. I wouldn't want to be running around by myself or anything."

While Lucasfilm appears to be moving on from the "Skywalker Saga," it's certainly possible we could see more from Rey, Finn, and Poe, especially as the latter two still need a definitive end to their stories.
