If it’s centred around a Jedi, I’m in. If it’s some random, generic sci fi, pass. For me Star Wars has always been about the Force. I want to see it used, and used creatively within the current scope of powers, not just adding shit in going “Oh, that’s a force thing too, just one you haven’t seen before”. Just keep Kennedy the [frick] away from it.

No need to give Star Wars a multiverse or alternate timeline stuff, just set it in a different time.

Hopefully they focus on making a great character and not on making a role model, seriously that has been the problem with a lot of recent female led stuff. Seriously there is nothing feminist about Alien or Terminator, but Ripley and Sarah become role models for people because they were good characters. If they want to be feminist fine, you can be feminist without a character being all powerful or perfect. Buffy, Xena

@dracula - It seems like the streaming stuff is more geared towards an adult audience. Cara Dune doesn't fall prey to that. And Ahsoka is great in the final season of Clone Wars.

@InfinitePunches - Cara Dune is good (doubt she will be getting a show anytime soon), not sure I would count the final season of Clone Wars as a 2020/disny era thing, wasn't it just made up of mostly completed episodes from before the cancelation, with the only new story being the finale

Sign me up. It seems like Star Wars is getting weird and puppety again, and that's my jam.

(Do us kids still say things are our jam?)

She referred to Kennedy as a Queen. No thanks. Not interested.

Glad for those who love more Star Wars, but for me the magic ended with ROTJ and the early 90s games.

@jj2112 - I sort of agree, however I do love Rogue One and The Mandalorion.

@marvel72 - Rogue One was okay, but the problem with prequels is that I felt I wasn't watching the same Vader or Empire I saw in Star Wars. And Mandalorian is just fan service imo, they're just repeating the same over and over. That's why I love The Expanse for example, things change so much between the first book and the last. But don't get me wrong, I'm glad there are people who enjoy Star Wars, I just got over it.

@InfinitePunches - Chloe Bennet could do it.

@InfinitePunches - I don't think Leyland is gonna (or should) do a show about Aphra. Seeing her in live-action could be cool though
InfinitePunches
InfinitePunches - 11/9/2020, 5:12 PM
@bkmeijer - Isn't Russian Doll like a weird horror/comedy? That sounds pretty in line with the good Aphra comics.

bkmeijer2 - 11/10/2020, 1:18 AM
@InfinitePunches - Yeah, that's true. I just feel Leyland isn't gonna do anything related to or set in the Skywalker saga
InfinitePunches
InfinitePunches - 11/10/2020, 6:58 AM
@bkmeijer - I want them to explore new areas of the timeline more than anything. The Cold War between the Sith Empire and the Old Republic has the most potential I think.

In some places, the bad guys are in charge. In other places, the good guys. Proxy wars, fragile treaties, lawlessness. Basically unlimited possibilities.

@InfinitePunches - I wanna see something similar. The hundred year darkness for example could very well be (similar to) that too

So we still don't know what the show will be about or at least what its theme will be. Bummer.

Describing the series as "female-led" has made more harm than anything. It says nothing about it and it gives the feeling that it doesn't matter what the show will be about as long as it's a series with strong female characters. It's not how you sell a show and it has alienated a lot of people, men and women alike.
marvel72
marvel72 - 11/9/2020, 6:10 AM
@Amuro - It'll also be diversity over story as well.

1.Female led
2.Diversity
3.story
Amuro
Amuro - 11/9/2020, 6:46 AM
@marvel72 - I have no problem with the series having mainly female main characters and representation, but it's clearly embarassing to see them elevating "female-led" as the concept they're building this show around like this is the thing that matters the most about the project.
