Looks like it might have a different aesthetic than the prequels or Skywalker, ugh 'saga.' Probably should have just done this straight away after Disney bought Star Wars.

@FleischerSupes - They should have yes.

@FleischerSupes - just PLEASE don’t bring up the prophecy of the “one to balance the force” or the name Skywalker. It’s been done and it ended badly. If they do that it might be might be interesting.

@MutantEquality - Yeah because Star Wars really started with a fallen civilization, full of references to better times suggesting a golden age past. They need to just show us that. In the good old days nobody would have been looking for a savior anyway.

This will be the next round of SW films. Let's hope that Favreau has a hand in developing them.

Sounds like a lot of fun.

Just far enough back that should they need a ratings boost, they can always have a Yoda appearance.

Also, very nice to see a Blonde Female in Star Wars...and a Jedi no less. ❤️

@IronGenesis - Really stepping beyond their comfort zone. The lead isn't white and a brunette this time, she's white and blonde. Whoo.. hoo.

Not the original trilogy and in comic book form?

It'll be hated and no one will read it.

But why do all the black people have to have purple lightsabers?

🙂 I kid, I kid.

(Purple is the best color anyway)

Always best to manage expectations when it comes to Disney Star Wars. Everyone was going bonkers over 'Project Luminous', only for it to be a series of books and comics. Granted, I'm glad to see the change of scenery/time, but was much more looking forward to the video games and movies stepping out of the tired aesthetic of the old trilogy. I'm sure the comics/books have an audience, just not for me.

Someone who read Plageus, how old was he? I know he wasn't human, so an appearance here wouldn't be out of the question would it, given his force abilities?

@clornelas - Well 65 years before the Battle of Yavin, Darth Plagueis killed his master Darth Tenebrous. Plagueis is a Muun (the long headed Commerce Guild alien type from Attack of the Clones) and I believe they live a good while. Tenebrous is a Bith (Cantina band alien) and they def live a while. Those names and assignedalien types come straight from Lucas too, as he was developing Revenge of the Sith, so while it's fleshed out in the books and EU, it is very much canon...as far as Darth Plagueis and his details are concerned.

Personally I think they need to do the opposite. Jump 200 years into the future and see where things are and start fresh. No more legacy characters really shift the factions and concepts of light and dark sides of the force and reinvent it in a meaningful way. Unlike many I like the sequel trilogy but overall as a franchise it’s time to move forward

@Ha1frican - Given the lack of technological progression in Star Wars, this idea still can do a lot of that. There's just no sith, which is refreshing. It gets a little tiresome seeing them defeated and return over and over again. This forces them to be more creative with their choice of the threat facing the jedi.

Will be interesting without Lucas involved (or involved but ignored).
With the exception of Rogue 1 which I found to be a good story, the new films lacked character development, personality, and an overall theme. They simply were not very good stories.
Lucas used very traditional and old themes as a canvas to paint the picture through the characters. I hope we get something along that line.

anyone else feel this is pointless? and they are jumping back because they are "creatively bankrupt" on making new stories in the future
Kurban
Kurban - 2/25/2020, 11:32 AM
@Tony93 - Star Wars is still a hot commodity despite the sequels. The Old Republic was popular with fans, but the EU needed an overhaul. It makes sense.

Not to mention for the FIRST TIME EVER we get books and comics on Star Wars because we've NEVER had that before...
