Anyone else saw that stuff with John Boyega on Twitter yesterday?

Didn't think I could love the guy even more.

Looking like it will end up making about as much as Rogue One did.
Far from a bomb, but I can't see Disney be happy with this.

And if it was a good movie it would have already made over a billion domestically....

Might end up seeing this again today, and all that comes to mind is that the versions of this movie that in way involve Palpatine would be infinitely better

You can do all the prequel callbacks you want, but cracking a finale that forces them to reconcile the trilogy without an 11th hour reveal would make things feel so much more organic and we'll conceived

Return of the King is proof that you don't have to always go linearly "bigger" in order to be better

Today was my first day off in weeks, so I finally got to see the movie. I went in with insanely low expectations, and yeah, the movie is a mixed bag. There were moments that I really liked, and other moments that I absolutely hated. The story was too rushed, the characters were constantly chasing after the next forgettable McGuffin, and the plot is drenched in membaberry juice. Memba’ Lando? Memba’ the Emperor? Memba’ the Death Star? The movie was so preoccupied with satiating the audience’s thirst for nostalgia, that it forgot to tell a good story.

A lot of people are vilifying JJ for the film, but the fault lies exclusively with the head honchos at Lucasfilm. It seems like they set out to make a trilogy of movies without a plot outline. When Kathleen Kennedy hired Rian Johnson to make TLJ, she didn’t tell him “This is Rey’s arc for all the films.” She told him “You’re the director. Do whatever you want!”

I’m honestly excited for more Star Wars films (after a 2-3 year break) but they gotta stop using nostalgia to drive the entirety of their creative decisions. Star Wars is a big damn universe. I want to see a Star Wars movie with new characters from a different time period. No Skywalkers, no Darth Vaders, and no Death Stars.
