SUICIDE SQUAD Star Jared Leto Took Method Acting To A New Level On BLADE RUNNER 2049 Set

Jared Leto went to some bizarre extremes when he played The Joker in Suicide Squad but the Oscar winning actor chose to go method again for Blade Runner 2049 and that led to him going way over the top...

Jared Leto is a method actor and while some mock that process, it won him an Oscar a few years back so you can understand why it's something he sticks with. After doing some pretty bizarre things for his role as the Clown Prince of Crime in Suicide Squad, a new profile for Leto in The Wall Street Journal reveals that he went to even more drastic lengths for his role as Blade Runner 2049's lead villain.

As you may have
noticed in trailers for the sequel, Leto's character - Niander Wallace, a sinister creator of replicants - is blind and that led to the actor wearing opaque contact lenses. Here's a quote from director Denis Villeneuve about the lengths Leto went to here to deliver his very best performance.

"He entered the room, and he could not see at all. He was walking with an assistant, very slowly. It was like seeing Jesus walking into a temple. Everybody became super silent, and there was a kind of sacred moment. Everyone was in awe. It was so beautiful and powerful—I was moved to tears. And that was just a camera test!"

Leto added that he "didn’t dive as deep down the rabbit hole as maybe I’ve done before, but I stayed really focused." However, he still essentially blinded himself for Blade Runner 2049 and that's an impressive level of commitment. Will it make the movie any better? We'll have to wait and see.
