The Terminator franchise has been in trouble for a while now. The third instalment was an instantly forgettable mess, Salvation took us into the future, and the oddly titled Genysis went back to the past, only to completely screw it all up in the process. The question now is, can Deadpool helmer Tim Miller put things back on the right track with Terminator: Dark Fate?

Time will tell, but Arnold Schwarzenegger has today revealed that the first trailer for the movie is now less than 48 hours away.

A handful of official images and a behind-the-scenes featurette have already been revealed, but this will be our first proper look at the movie. As a result, we'll soon have a much better idea about the direction this story is being taken in as we get a new Terminator in the form of Gabriel Luna and the return of Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor.

As for Arnie, it's thought that he'll be playing the human the T-800 was based on, and that's obviously something with a lot of storytelling potential depending on how the idea is presented.

For now, check out the announcement teaser and stay tuned for the trailer very soon.

Why would anyone care about the guy the machines based the T-800 on? Does that mean every Terminator has a human avatar? They continue to shoehorn Arnold into these movies. He had his run. It's time to create other characters for this franchise that people will actually be interested in instead of desperately trying to recapture the magic from the past. Maybe this will be great and I hope I'm proven wrong.

Why they aren’t using The Rock to invigorate the franchise is beyond me.
