When a sequel to Ridley Scott's seminal sci-fi classic was first announced, fans of the original were not overly enthusiastic... to say the least.

However, once Denis Villeneuve came on board as director and we began to hear more about it, stances began to soften , and now Blade Runner 2049 has emerged as one of the most highly- anticipated movies of the year.

We should be getting another trailer as the film's October release date draws nearer, but in the meantime you can check out Empire's limited edition subscribers cover for their latest issue below. The regular newsstand version will be available from July 13.

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard, a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
