Disney is currently losing around $350,000 per day by halting work on movies like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and The Little Mermaid, but there is now some good news about the Marvel Studios movie. While it remains on hold for now, director Destin Daniel Cretton has revealed that he's tested negative for COVID-19.

The filmmaker was forced to go into self isolation after it was suspected that he might have contracted the Coronavirus, but he's clearly received his test results and now knows otherwise.

Unfortunately for comic book fans, this doesn't change anything with Shang-Chi.

The movie remains on hold, and there's no telling whether it will still meet its February 2021 release date. Like every other production in Hollywood, work won't resume until its safe to do so; that could be weeks from now or even months. There's no way of telling, but the safety of those working on projects like these is obviously what's most important.

Last Friday, I decided to be tested for the Corona virus. I was working in close proximity with some people who had potentially been exposed, and because Nik and I have a newborn at home, I wanted to be as safe as possible. During my weekend of isolation away from my family, I had a lot of time to ponder this interesting moment in history that our second child was born into, a time full of opinions and division, where scientific truths are debated and brushed off as political spins. But in the midst of this storm, while staring up at a spot on my hotel ceiling that I swear looked exactly like a bunny, I could see something really quite beautiful happening. People all around the world are beginning to realize how connected we are, how vulnerable we are, how much we need each other to survive. I am happy to say that my test came back negative, but I will continue to be even more careful in the days ahead. Because if you believe in good science, and I do, we still have a mountain to climb together. No matter what you believe or how serious you think this problem is, please err on the side of safety and concern for those more vulnerable than you, and remember that having no symptoms doesn’t mean you’re not a carrier. Please stay hopeful, please stay humble, please stay home. Social distancing is an act of love for yourself, your family, and for every person on this planet. @L0RDbuckethead - Bats are the reported source. Most viral infections come about by human consumption of these species. HIV cane into play a similar way because people used to eat chimps as food. Most animals harbor many viral infections. Bats have been responsible for many viruses. I didn’t get this from tv btw. I’m studying epidemiology and infectious diseases so take that up with the research and professors if you have a problem.

@PantherKing - This has been HIGHLY disputed by reputable sources— and I’m not just talking mainstream media, I’m talking science-oriented publications. The virus does come from bats, but not the consumption of bats. It’s likely it was transmitted to a cow first.
