In one simple tweet, director David F. Sandberg responds to Reddit nonsense that he was fired from Shazam! and thrown out of studio offices because he wanted to make a dark and "gritty" superhero film.

Shazam! director David F. Sandberg has once again cleverly shot down rumors regarding the DC Extended Universe and his future with the film.

Taking to his Twitter account, Sandberg highlighted a passage from the DCEUleaks subreddit which claimed he was fired for wanting to make a "dark and gritty, sexy and violent" R-rated version of Shazam! Even more ridiclously, the passage went on to claim that studio execs tore apart the script and kicked him out of the office.

How does one respond to such an outlandish claim? Sandberg simply called the DCEUleaks subreddit "the best."

This isn't the first time that Sandberg has poked fun as this wild speculation either. Earlier this week he responded to rumors that Warner Bros. was pulling the plug on the DC Films Universe by simply asking, "Can I take the day off tomorrow then? I really want to sleep in."

Of course, anyone who has been following news of Shazam! knows pre-production is well underway. Asher Angel has been cast as Billy Batson, the youngster who transforms into the powerful adult superhero (played by Zachary Levi in the film) by speaking the magic word “Shazam!”, an acronym for ancient gods and historical figures Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury. In his adult form, he wields superhuman strength, speed, flight, and more. Most recently, Kyle Gardiner who served as stunt coordinator on Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok and Warner Bros' upcoming DCEU production Aquaman, has reportedly been hired to oversee stunts in the film.

As you can see, Shazam! is doing just fine, and it's nice to see David F. Sandberg take this sillt speculation in his stride. Shazam! is aiming to begin production on February 5 in Toronto, with a theatrical release set for April 5, 2019.

How is this news? The "leaker" can't even spell.........

David F. Sandberg seems kinda petty for responding to that nonsense.

Wow, people are stupid. He wanted to make a sexy version of Shazam? Who would believe that and who be dumb enough to make it up?

Well, now we know that the movie news outlets don't believe EVERY single thing every person makes up. Glad Comic Book Movie didn't report on this joke of. a scoop. Only an idiot would believe that David F. Sandberg would give us a hard R rated Shazam/Captain Marvel movie.

This is clearly nonsense, but you'd be surprised how many "reputable" sites report on this stuff. They know full well it's bull, too. Shameless.

@RorMachine - What about the one floating around that Warner Brothers is not sold on Jake Gyllenhaal. Any truth to it?

People really have decided that they don't want DCEU to succeed. Sad.

@Odin - Seriously. People went into JL just looking for something to nitpick and complain about so they can join the anti-DC / anti-Snyder circle jerk. JL was amazing. Truly. I saw it twice just to be sure I didn't have rose-colored glasses on the first time I saw it and yep, still amazing. All this hate makes zero sense.

Guys. I've just heard from a reliable source that DC have fired their entire production team including Geoff Johns and have partnered with Marvel Studios and Fox Studios to create an ultra mega shared universe that combines both the Marvel and DC universes. The first movie to be put into production will be The Avengers, X-Men and Justice League teaming up to take on Thanos, Darkseid, Hela, Magneto and Loki in what is tentatively being titled "Infinity War 2: Mega Ultra Super-Dooper Ultimate War". Targeted release is Summer 2020...

Man, that was easy. With that bit of info I've just become a Reddit editor!
