Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Shazam's boots had been changed in the trailer for the movie and now director David F. Sandberg has revealed what happened between that first official image and the teaser...

In the first official image from Shazam!, fans noticed that the titular hero was wearing a snazzy pair of new boots. Those were completely different from what we'd seen in set photos and not remotely similar to the close-up shot of them in the trailer. So, what on Earth is going on with Billy Batson's footwear? Well, director David F. Sandberg has now shed some light on what's been happening.

As you can see below, the rather goofy looking red and gold boots (which would have essentially meant he was wearing a onesie with shoes that had gaping holes in them) were replaced because they simply weren't practical and based on that hi-res shot in the Tweet, that was in terms of the visuals too. Needless to say, those boots probably won't be missed and the right decision was made here.

What do you guys think? As always, let us know your thoughts on that in the comments section below.

I'm confused... which ones were the "original" and which ones were the "fixed" ones?

I like the sandal-looking ones better, personally.

I actually like the sandalboots. The other one just looks like gold spray painted rain boots with some added design. In other word cheap.

Oh I see, well the ones in the close up are nice looking actually. The costume is nice really, except for the padding and the bolt

Sandle boots are better than those block ones.

I've been breaking in a new pair of workboots lately, so I'm particularly sympathetic right now if it turns out the sandals design just wasn't working for whatever reason. They look like they'd be easy to muss up and potentially uncomfortable. Nothing sucks more than spending hours on your feet in something that was designed for aesthetic concerns only.

When it comes to "yellow boots" i only really give a shit when it comes to Flash, and i will never get that... F*CK!
No movies, tv series, and i almost lost that on the comics as well, incredible.
But this is nice tho, i would like something like this for Flash as well, better than nothing am i right?

I didn't even know Shazam had other shoes, but after looking at both the old ones look better than the gold ones.

So basically: "we heard fan complaints and are now going to digitally remove his feet throughout the movie."

Let's hope boots are easier to replace than an upper lip.

Makes sense. The new ones look much easier for the actor to run.

I actually thought the sandal boots looked 10x better and helped mix up his costume compared to other DC heroes
