David F. Sandberg's Shazam movie is finally starting to take shape with casting additions coming thick and fast before shooting starts next year. Very little is known about the plot right now or how the characters will be portrayed but it appears as if we can forget about seeing Billy Batson portrayed the same way he was by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank when he was reintroduced in The New 52 continuity.

As you may recall, that version of Billy wasn't remotely likeable as he was portrayed as a pretty awful foster kid who had been made bitter by the death of his parents. He ultimately found redemption but it's fair to say that this isn't a story arc which would necessarily work that well on the big screen.

Sandberg clearly feels that way as well because when he was asked about the differences between the comics and movie, he pointed out that the live-action Billy won't be a "huge dickhead." It's hard to say how Johns must feel about those remarks and it will now be interesting seeing how much the comics end up influencing the Shazam movie. What do you guys think? If they made him a dickhead he would fit in with all the other characters in the DCEU.

This movie could go either way...

It all hinges on this kid that's playing Billy. If he comes off as annoying, this movie will flop SO HARD.

If they can get the tone right and instill a sense of FUN into the movie, than this could be good

I definitely don't envy that little kid! (the world already dislikes his face and lip synching videos!)

@xfan320 -

"The world"? Please, nobody knows who he is.
If he's a Disney kid like Dove Cameron, I'm certain he lip syncs badly; they all do over there.
