Henry Cavill got robbed of getting to do more with Superman. So hopefully he'll be able to come back, because if Ezra Miller is unfortunately still Barry Allen, at least keep an actor that no one has a problem with and still has potential of bringing out a great film.

Cavill was reportedly on set, but not on the day they were gonna shoot the cameo. What a waste.

For the people wondering, Cavill is gone because he’d be making his 4th major film appearance as the character if he came back, and he’d be due a significant raise I’m sure. WB doesn’t want to pay that, feeling that his version of Superman never caught on enough to be a box office draw. (His first solo film did moderate returns. They added Batman for his second film and got less than the last solo Batman films made, and then Justice League really dropped off.)

Ezra Miller still comes cheaply, like Jason Momoa did... he hasn’t played Flash as the lead yet. And since Aquaman proved audiences aren’t holding Justice League against those actors, he still gets a chance.

I think Cavill could shine with someone other than Snyder handling the character, but it doesn’t look likely to happen.

@Chewtoy - not to mention the rest of the supporting cast. Once fishburne and Adams jumped ship, I know it was over.

WB really have outdone themselves. It's just... it's just a mess. They've got four major characters that are working right now (each in their own way), but none of them really feel like they come from the same cinematic universe, and Gadot and Momoa already have scars from the one big attempt at a crossovers. Their most traditionally popular character looks like he is slinking back to a rebooted isolation.

Even if Cavill hadn't already semi-sorta-walked away, it makes no sense to throw more money at him as a centerpiece for a shared universe or as a continuation of a schizophrenic franchise that has never been all that popular.

But, a clean reboot doesn't seem all that attractive either because (evidence suggests) that a Superman solo movie probably wouldn't be a safer bet than a solo franchise with literally any other virgin DC property. Pull a name out of Geoff Johns' snapback and there's a good chance it could crack a billion. So, what's the point in rebooting a character that WB doesn't really have a use for?

...It's sad days for the big blue boy scout... Cavill will be fine. He's a mutant witch [frick]er, now.

This is why I hate DC.

They keep going on and on and on and on and on about how it was GOING to be - get over it and move the [frick] on.

No wonder DC can't move forward, they living in the past themselves..... [frick]ing synder started it all with his rants on twitter

If WB spent 200 million dollars on a Superman movie right now (with Cavill or rebooted), they would have to deal with franchise fatigue. There have been three cinematic Supermen, a half-dozen TV variants, and a fairly popular Supergirl series that has mined a lot of the comic story material. Superman's supporting cast has largely been an outdated cliche of the genre, so there would need to be some rehabilitation work done there. And beyond that, it just seems to me that WB brass isn't all that interested in the core themes of Superman (hope, justice, truth, all that jazz), as they seem a lot more enthusiastic about trashy clown movies.

So, if you've got a 200 million dollar check on your desk right now, and you're thinking about what to write in the memo line, I've got to imagine that you'd think... "What about Martian Manhunter, instead?" You can do all the space nonsense, all the last-son-of-a-dead-world stuff, and all the superhero city smashing spectacle of a Superman movie, but with a property that few people have any preconceptions about.

(Or maybe more clown movies, what do I know.)

Supergirl can be the sole one with her name on the title. But it still has to be a Superman & Supergirl movie, with Lois Lane.

@WAKANDABATMANFOREVER - I think that kind of "RDJ in Homecoming" sized role is the only way Cavill is coming back at all. But even then, WB may not want to have any elements that tie a fledgling new franchise to the first fumbling phase of the DCEU.

@Spock0Clock - I'm expecting both Amy Adams and Henry Cavill to be replaced. Which would be a real shame, because they were so fun together in interviews. I would've loved to have seen them portray a light-hearted Lois & Clark. But oh well. At least Zack Snyder gave them the love in the tub scene.😊

@WAKANDABATMANFOREVER - @WAKANDABATMANFOREVER - She was miscast as Lois, IMO. But to be fair, we never got to see that much of her outside of MoS, so it's not her fault they didn't utilize her talents.

She's a great actor -- don't get me wrong -- I just think she's horribly miscast for (Snyder's interpretation of) Lois Lane, much like Eisenberg was for "Lex Luthor, Jr."

Despite not being a huge fan of most of the action in the movie, I felt like it still managed to work out it's own unique niche in the genre and was a really well rounded and wholesome movie overall.....which made the super awkward placement of this scene even more strange. Who's idea was this?

Henry Cavill did not need to be in that mess of a movie. They need to this iteration of the DCEU and start from Man of Steel 2. Shazam is the worst performing DCEU in the franchise.
