With the world no longer protected by Iron Man, Thor and Captain Marvel off-world, and Steve Rogers retired, it seems the next phase of the MCU might be focused on expanding the Avengers' roster...

In the comics, the Avengers have a long list of reserve members who can step up and fill-in when the main, active-duty heroes are injured or simply need some time off. That's not yet quite the case in the MCU, and the team is currently without Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and Captain Marvel.

The latest TV spot for Spider-Man: Far From Home reveals that the new team Nick Fury is trying to put together is simply a continuation of the original Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and it seems Mysterio is the first individual who'll answer the call.

While most comic book fans are anticipating Quentin Beck to ultimately prove to be a villain, Kevin Feige and co. have proven in the past that they aren't afraid to use those expectations to deliver twists and surprises.

Whether Mysterio ultimately proves to be a good guy won't remain a secret for too much longer, as the social media embargo lifts on Far From Home tomorrow and the film will open on July 2.

@BlackBeltJones - Or Hawkeye, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Hulk, Ant-Man, Wanda, etc.

@MarkJulian - I hope that the actual scene has Parker reciting every Avengers name and Fury responding over 2-3 minutes. Just when you think it’s over, they keep on going.

@BlackBeltJones - I really hope that turns out to be Chameleon in an elaborate scheme to trick a young boy into giving Mysterio good press. Maria Hill, too. Like "Nick Fury" leaves the room for a few minutes, and "Maria Hill" comes in straightening her wig.

@BlackBeltJones - funny thing is that if this were comics fury we could call him racist for that.

@Dotanuki - fun story, thats actually the movie. Fury brings peter in and has him join the avengers, this back and forth happens for about 2 hours, credits.

"Don't invoke her name."
what is that suppose to mean?
Hopefully this is a joke and isnt a sign that they are to be treating Captain Marvel as above all the other Avengers, even when she isn't around. Her movie was decent, not as bad as some people made it out to be, and she was fine in Endgame, but seriously she just got here, at least wait a few movies before you start acting like she is the new Iron Man
Origame
Origame - 6/18/2019, 6:22 PM
@dracula - well they did make her into the avenger, even specifically pointing out how she inspired the avenger initiative (even though everything pointed to cap being the inspiration).

Oh and watch out. We've been having a lot of issues here of people calling criticism of captain marvel as sexist troll behavior.

@Origame - That's complete BS. That should be The Cheeseburger Initiative. I need a reason why her call sign was Avenger. Those actually mean something. From her flashbacks and back story, I sincerely doubt that would have been hers.

@Origame - Cant believe they made Captain Marvel the inspiration for the Avengers when the first Captain America movie is literally called Captain America The FIRST Avenger. They are pushing Captain Marvel as the new lead of the mcu too soon, Iron Man wasn't the center of the mcu right away, at first it could have been either him or Captain America and eventually it was decided on Tony, Seriously Doctor Strange and Black Panther are just as valid options for the new central character

"Her movie was decent"

Nope. She was an over-powered character with no flaws, no real development and even when she was reckless as a child it was treated as her 'breaking the mold'. She was a mary sue written into the MCU primarily so they have a deus ex machina in Endgame who could destroy Thanos' ship and save Tony Stark in a scene that did not need to exist.

She was not developed beyond being over-powered and the victim of a few sexist remarks. It was laughable how pathetic the threat of that movie was, they even made other movies look worse by comparison by throwing in Ronan the Accuser and making him into a coward who runs away from Carol.

She is so over-powered that the only method of making a sequel will be to adapt storylines where she has some form of illness or something that causes her to lose her powers over the course of the film (And not regain them) while also making us care for a character who is arrogant and unlikable.

@Scarilian - I agree with a lot of what you say. They can fix the problems in a sequel. Seriously look at Thor 1 and 2, they aren’t bad, but they aren’t great. People use to like her when she was ms. Marvel right? Never read anything with any captain marvel, unless you count dc’s captain marvel. I heard they changed the character when she became captain. If that’s true then obviously they need to look at ms marvel stuff for inspiration

@dracula - one of the many reasons i refuse to see this movie. With black panther and doctor strange, you want them to be important. With captain marvel they force her to be important and call you sexist if you dont like it.

@Origame - I think you might be being a bit dramatic, I've said a million times I didn't like the movie and haven't been called that once haha
Origame
Origame - 6/19/2019, 6:07 AM
@DillonEnnis - well then you're lucky. Because this has been a serious problem not even just on this site. Ive been threatened with being reported even though i also state i prefer how alita handled a female main character.
DillonEnnis
DillonEnnis - 6/19/2019, 6:39 AM
@Origame - Might be in the way you deliver the message, I genuinely believe most people are lukewarm on the movie from most of the critics I've seen talk about it and people on here, and most people I know personally
Origame
Origame - 6/19/2019, 6:42 AM
@DillonEnnis - how can i talk about alita being better and still come off as sexist?
DillonEnnis
DillonEnnis - 6/19/2019, 6:47 AM
@Origame - I enjoyed Alita more as well, but it kind of comes off like you're trying to score points by saying you enjoyed another female led movie and that can come off as disingenuous to people so they are less receptive to your points
Origame
Origame - 6/19/2019, 6:57 AM
@DillonEnnis - you're really trying to defend this? Seriously, i dont know anyone, critic or otherwise, that criticized this movie without being called sexist. Making the claim that they see me as "trying to score points" is ridiculous in terms of defending this behaviour
DillonEnnis
DillonEnnis - 6/19/2019, 7:10 AM
@Origame - I genuinely haven't experienced the behavior you're talking about so I guess we sound ridiculous to each other haha
Origame
Origame - 6/19/2019, 7:19 AM
@DillonEnnis - guess so
