The first person I want to see react to this news is Flash Thompson.

The JK Simmons reveal blew my mind. It wasn't even in the REALM of what I was expecting from the after credits. So happy about that!

@Vocloz - Me too! I just got back from the movie and managed to stay spoiler free by avoiding this site and others - so glad that I did it was an awesome moment

@ElJefe - @Vocloz - Those last few minutes were the only part I enjoyed. I was supremely disappointed. I like that Peter's a real-to-life teen, but I hate that the Sony movies make him a total idiot (whereas the Russo brothers do NOT).

Watts blew his load early. if this happened like 3 or 4 movies down the line i'd be fine with it. But it has completely ruined the future of Spidey in the MCU for me.
ElJefe
ElJefe - 7/7/2019, 1:22 PM
@Spagett - It’s the best way to

(SPOILERS- Stop Reading!!)

introduce JJJ and the Bugle, though - and honestly Mysterio and his team knowing who he was blew the kid off anyways. Petey running around with no suit in the beginning was driving me nuts - I was hoping he’d do the old comics web-mask at least once

Spagett
Spagett - 7/7/2019, 1:26 PM
@ElJefe - I loved that they introduced JJJ. It was great up until the identity reveal. Him thinking Mysterio was an inter-dimensional hero and Spider-Man is a menace is great.

@Spagett - i said before, they are creating a theme with Parkers identity being revealed in some fashion in the mid-credits. What can they do next? What comes to mind, imo, is that the next one, within the context of the movie and larger MCU going-ons at that time, will reveal Spiderman to be a skrull. Setting off secret wars if it hasnt begun already by that point.

@Spagett - Holland has one movie left in his contract. He's been around for five films already.

How was it too early?
Spagett
Spagett - 7/7/2019, 2:38 PM
@rds130 - Spider-man is 16. Still in High School. Peter can never work for JJJ. The whole point of Peter keeping his identity secret was so that the people he cared about wouldn't be in danger. That's why it's such a big deal when a villain finds out. Now that the whole world knows, All Peter's enemies will go straight for May, Ned and MJ, Pete can't go to college, get a regular job, struggle to balance being Spider-man and having a regular life. That was all taken away from him by a terrible decision that Jon Watts admits to having no plan to fix. All that's left to do is kill Peter and bring Miles in.

Spagett - 7/7/2019, 2:40 PM
@rds130 - Also Tom said he'd pretty much keep playing Spider-man until they wouldn't let him anymore.
MrDandy

@Spagett - I guarentee you the sequel will deal with Peter wringling out of it somehow.
Spagett
Spagett - 7/7/2019, 3:13 PM
@MrDandy - Yeah I men I hope they fix it. I just don't see any possible way, given the overwhelming evidence, that Peter's name would be cleared. The best I could fathom is the Avengers taking Aunt May, MJ, all of Peter's friends, and a Skrull peter to wherever they congregate now (A mansion would be nice), leaving the real Peter to continue to be Spider-man to clear his name. But I feel like even if they somehow managed to clear all that up with a bunch of help from aliens and the avengers, it's still wasting a whole movie that could be spent on making a regular Spider-man movie that would be better.
Spagett
Spagett - 7/7/2019, 3:15 PM
Not to mention that MCU Spidey 3 needs to pretty much take place right after Far From home in 2023. by the time peter turns 17, Tom Holland will be like 28. A 5 year time jump in Endgame may have been a tad too long.
MrDandy
MrDandy - 7/7/2019, 3:21 PM
@Spagett - I think it's more likely Peter shows up as Spider-Man and a Skrull appears as Peter since anyone can wear the mask but only a skrull could be disguised as Peter. Or alternatively Peter could use Mysterios tech and create an illusion of his own somehow.
TheRationalNerd
TheRationalNerd - 7/7/2019, 4:04 PM
@Spagett - Won't agree with it ruining Spidey's future in the MCU. But I think Watts was given a little too much freedom to pull this off all for shock value and not even really know where the story heads next.
MARVELFAN1995
MARVELFAN1995 - 7/7/2019, 4:25 PM
@MrDandy - Exactly! I don't get why some of these people on here are having so much trouble figuring out ways to undo the identity reveal. FFS use your imagination, people! It's like they need everything f*cking spoonfed to them.

Ha1frican - 7/7/2019, 5:16 PM
@Spagett - I disagree. One I highly doubt this is permanent, there will be a resolution more than likely in the next film. Two, we’ve now had 7 Spiderman films they need to upset the standard tropes to keep things fresh and although I do enjoy the classic Spidey life balance dynamic that I feel was done very well in FFH we’ve never seen him have to deal with a public identity crisis in films and a film about that imo is a very interesting prospect for something new
Phlegmbot
Phlegmbot - 7/7/2019, 8:46 PM
@Spagett - I'm willing to give the MCU a chance on the ID reveal. That is, if Spidey's next appearance is in Avengers 5 or some other MARVEL (*not* Sony) franchise film. So far, the Russos treat Peter as a capable, smart, quick-witted young hero who's distracted and unsure of himself...while the Sony films portray him as a complete moron. And I hate it. (I wrote about it in the Editorials if you care.) But, I gotta admit, I did love the MJ/Peter swing and the swing through NYC, and the JJJ reveal.
Phlegmbot
Phlegmbot - 7/7/2019, 8:47 PM
@four20smoke - Well, yeah, that'll be the fix. Spider-Man has two Skrull friends now. He doesn't KNOW it, but he does. The Skrulls being allies will be how it's fixed.
Phlegmbot
Phlegmbot - 7/7/2019, 8:49 PM
@Spagett - That Watts comment sounds like a misdirect. Feige would never let that go w/out a plan. I mean, c'mon, the 2nd credits sequence is the reveal that, essentially, Peter has TWO friends who are Skrulls. There's your fix right there. And they can do that in the first 10 mins of the next movie if they so wish.
Spagett
Spagett - 7/7/2019, 9:01 PM
@Phlegmbot - And don't forget, that Dmitri guy working with "Nick Fury" is the Chameleon. Taking care of the whole issue in the first 10 minutes, followed by no consequences at all wouldn't be off-brand for Spidey's MCU solo movies.
Phlegmbot
Phlegmbot - 7/8/2019, 9:19 PM
@Spagett - Ohhh! I missed that reference. I was so busy gritting my teeth in anger throughout the whole damned thing. It annoys me HOW BAD these 2 Spidey movies have been, especially considering how wonderful he's portrayed in the Disney/Marvel films.

Pretty sure peter could just use Edith to release the real footage anonymously
