SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME Star Jacob Batalon Talks Betty Brant Future & Hobgoblin Hopes - EXCLUSIVE

SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME Star Jacob Batalon Talks Betty Brant Future & Hobgoblin Hopes - EXCLUSIVE

With Spider-Man: Far From Home arriving on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD today, ComicBookMovie.com was recently granted an exclusive opportunity to sit down with Jacob Batalon to talk about Ned's future.

Spider-Man: Far From Home featured a pretty fun Easter egg which paired up Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) with his future wife from the comics, Betty Brant (Angourie Rice). While the film did ultimately end with the duo splitting up after their summer fling, it's only fair to wonder whether they could reunite in the upcoming 2021 sequel or in a subsequent movie down the line.

During my recent chat with Far From Home's Jacob Batalon, I asked him about the future of the Ned/Betty relationship and where he would like to see his character go next. Now, while it sounds like the door is always open for Ned and Betty, he'd much rather see his loveable sidekick explore his more villainous side as the Hobgoblin.

ROHAN: Spider-Man: Far From Home really hints at Ned’s future relationship with Betty Brant because he does ultimately marry Betty in the comics. Is that something you’ve discussed with Jon or Angourie already? Possibly getting an opportunity to explore that romantic dynamic further in future films?

JACOB: Oh, yeah, I mean, I just feel like any choice to make with Ned is a good one. I’ve had the same thoughts about his future since about 2016, but, for some reason, I feel like I really want to be a villain, although I think fans are just really happy with Ned being a sidekick, which is amazing too. So, yeah, I’ll go anywhere the story takes Ned.

ROHAN: Speaking of villains, Ned does explore his darker side when he gets brainwashed into becoming the Hobgoblin in the comics. The character’s personality in the movies is nothing like that iteration, but have you ever thought about the possibility of suiting up as the Hobgoblin? Is that something you’ve ever discussed with Jon or Tom already, or like something you’d hope the writers and producers would want to explore down the line?

JACOB: I feel like I just talk shit about that all the time to Tom, but nothing really happens.

ROHAN: I think a lot of fans would enjoy seeing you throw down with Tom.

JACOB: Yeah, I mean, I would enjoy doing that myself. *laughs*

Stay tuned for more from Jacob Batalon throughout the day!
