SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Passes $100 Million in China, Closes in on GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2's Final Total
Following a rather drastic drop on Friday in China, Spider-Man: Homecoming has surpassed one hundred million dollars in the region and closes in on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's final worldwide gross.
While the big story of the weekend is War for the Planet of the Apes' record-breaking opening in China for a 20th Century Fox film, Spider-Man: Homecoming, despite a massive loss of theaters, still managed to pass $100 million in the country's market. As a result, Spider-Man: Homecoming currently sits at just over $861 million globally. This puts the movie just shy of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's final total of just over $863 million globally.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is still the lowest-grossing domestic superhero film of the summer, coming in below Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and the current domestic champion, Wonder Woman. However, despite this relatively weak performance, Spider-Man: Homecoming should pass Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice's domestic total by the end of the week, as it is just shy by a little over a hundred thousand dollars from crossing that marker.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is expected to easily pass Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to become the year's biggest comic book film to date. However, with two more films on the horizon that fit within that genre, we'll see how long Spider-Man: Homecoming will retain that title. What do you guys think? Are you excited to see Spider-Man: Homecoming become the number one comic book film of the year? Are you more excited for what Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League have in store?
