Michael Keaton Explains Why He Agreed To Star In Marvel's SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

Spider-Man: Homecoming star Michael Keaton reveals why he signed up to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and reveals exactly how familiar he is with the wall-crawler's storied comic book history...

Michael Keaton very nearly passed on Spider-Man: Homecoming according to various online reports, but the actor now looks set to start shooting his role in the movie soon. Who Keaton is playing has yet to be 100% confirmed, though all the signs are pointing to him taking on the role of The Vulture.

Asked in the latest issue of Empire for his thoughts on the way superhero movies have taken over, he said: "It's extraordinary. You're talking to a guy who basically knows nothing about the lore of that world. But my friend has two girls who are fascinated by superheroes. One in particular is way into them. I'm not kidding. I asked her about Spider-Man and she told me the movies I need to watch."

Keaton is of course well known for playing Batman, but when asked if he was ever reluctant to return to the genre, he made it clear that he has faith in Marvel. "Not really. I think it's going to be cool and I'm really looking forward to it. Tom Holland is a wonderful actor and, I've got to say, from the early conversations I've had with Marvel, they're really serious about how they approach their stuff. "
