Insomniac Games has released a brand new batch of stills from Spider-Man to coincide with the review embargo lifting and these put the spotlight on some truly spectacular looking moments in the game...

Earlier today, the review embargo for Spider-Man lifted and to say that early word on the PlayStation 4 game is good would be an understatement. While it doesn't sound like it exactly breaks the mould and issues which have plagued previous video game adventures featuring the wall-crawler persist, it definitely appears as if it will be equal parts amazing and spectacular. So, yeah, roll on Friday!

In the meantime, a fresh batch of screenshots
have been revealed putting the focus on a number of characters and some stunning shots of Peter Parker suited up in his Ben Reilly's Scarlet Spider suit.

That's one of many alternate costumes which will be available in Spider-Man and the level of details in some of these screenshots is seriously mind-blowing. Before you go doubting how accurate these are in comparison to what we'll see on Friday, though, those reports of the graphics being downgraded have now been debunked! Anyway, to check out these screens, click on the "View List" button.

Here, Spider-Man leaps into action against one of Wilson Fisk's goons. Despite The Kingpin being behind bars, it seems as if his men will continue plaguing both the wall-crawler and the Big Apple.

Ben Reilly's Scarlet Spider suit will be one of many costumes players are able to unlock in the game and rumour has it that its extra abilities will include creating a number of "clones" to confuse enemies.

This suit looks like it's been torn straight from the pages of the comic books but some minor changes have been made to make it a little more realistic. Here's hoping we see it on the big screen one day!

Spider-Man on the subway? Why not, eh? We don't know whether this is just from a random cutscene or if travelling via the underground is the equivalent to some sort of useful fast travel mode.

The Rhino is just one of many villains players will be able to square off with and this updated version of the character looks incredibly formidable and way better than in 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2!

Will Miles Morales suit up in Spider-Man? It certainly seems feasible even if it's in an after-credits scene of sorts. Regardless, it's going to be fun seeing what the game does with this version of the hero.

Spider-Man is just hanging out in this gorgeous screenshot from the game and while this shot doesn't tell us anything about what to expect, it does at least confirm that we'll see some iconic Spidey poses.

Spider-Man takes out one of Mister Negative's Inner Demons in this awesome shot and based on the first wave of reviews for the game, the combat might be up there with the Arkham Asylum series.

What a stunning shot of the wall-crawler. Every single review has praised the web swinging in Spider-Man and the parkour is said to be particularly good fun which is evident from Spidey leaping here.

One of the biggest complaints about this game - and every other one starring the wall-crawler - is the fact that players are forced to play through tedious side missions. This is seemingly an example of one!
