Rumours persist that Andrew Garfield will reprise the role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and the actor has finally addressed those claims head on. Find out what he had to say after the jump!

We know Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina will return as Electro and Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but what about the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield versions of Peter Parker?

Less reliable sources have indicated that they'll appear in the movie (i.e. not the Hollywood trades), so their involvement remains a rumour for now. However, Garfield has finally addressed those claims head-on in an interview with Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast.

Horowitz started asking about his possible Spider-Man return, but was quickly interrupted by the English actor.

"There isn't anything to ruin, bro! [Laughs] I had to quickly cut you off. There's nothing to ruin," Garfield exclaimed. "It's so crazy. Dude, it's f***ing hilarious to me. I do have this Twitter account and I see how often Spider-Man is trending and it's people freaking out about a thing. I wish I could be able to speak to everyone and just say, 'I recommend that you chill.'"

After talking about having to deny his involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home and no one believing him, Garfield added: "I can't speak for anything else but myself. They might be doing something, but I ain't got a call."

Horowitz pushed the matter and asked for a definitive yes or no answer. "I feel like, haven't I just said that? I did not get a call," he reiterated. "I would've gotten a call by now, that's all I'm saying. I don't want to ruin anything. Maybe they're going to call me and say, 'Hey, people want this!' Maybe it's a market research thing..."

So, he didn't get a call...but what about an email? Check out Garfield's comments in full below:

@mastakilla39 - lol “US journslism”, remind me again which reputable trade or publication actually reported that they would be in this movie?

@Godzillakartt - He kept repeating he didn't get a 'call'... so being cheeky he likely got a 'text' or something else that doesn't qualify for that question.

I think he's in it more now

His denial obviously confirms he'll be the Spider-Man that makes a deal with Mephisto.

@Reeds2Much - Why does everyone keep insisting Mephisto is coming soon? We've BARELY started establishing supernatural elements in the MCU. Hell, Blade's movie has only been announced and Ghost Rider's not a thing yet (NO, Agents of Shield's version DOESN'T COUNT). I don't understand this obsession over ONE liar on 4chan!

@MOVIELORD101 - we've had Gods and stones capable of controlling the fundamental forces of the universe.

Until I actually watch this movie and experience a lack of Maguire and Garfield, I completely believe they're both in this thing. Actors lie all the time... They're actors lol

@KWilly - I've always hated this approach to lying about reveals. We already figured out what's happening, like with khan in star trek or blowfeld in bond, but they have to insist we're wrong and there's something else going on. When that happens and we see the twist I'm not like "they totally got me". It's like a magician performing a trick, you guess what's gonna happen next and they're like "that's not true" then still proceeding like we should be surprised.

@Origame - At the same time, I get it. He can't say yes, or else that officially spoils the "surprise".

There's still loads of casual fans out there that have no idea about this. And who knows... Maybe he's actually telling the truth lol.

@KWilly - yeah I get that. There aren't a lot of answers he can give. But it's still irritating. And it still doesn't apply to instances where an actor is already cast.

@Origame - I actually like when they try their best and hide it. Because there's a part of me that isn't all in on these things (So i don't dissapoint myself if it doesn't happen *cough* Mephisto, Reed Richards, Charlie Cox *cough*) So when it does happen in theaters it's like yessss!!

@Origame - yeah but then you get Even Peters playing Ralph Bohner in WandaVision and you’ve set yourself up for disappointment.

@originalmrphil - that was a lame reveal anyway, regardless of fan theories.

He'll definitely be back. Spider-man:NWH is shaping up to be more of an early 60th anniversary Doctor Who style crossover.

@Origame - when has Marvel ever surprised us with a big secret reveal?
We have a bad habit of making our assumptions a reality even when an actor says they’re not apart of a project.
