SPIDER-MAN 4: Footage From Canceled Movie Tie-In Video Game Has Found Its Way Online

Spider-Man 4 was supposed to be released in 2011, with the plan being to pit Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker against The Vulture and Black Cat (though rumour has it the latter would become "Vulturess"). Ultimately, the project fell apart, and Sony Pictures instead decided to reboot the franchise.

That's how we ended up with The Amazing Spider-Man, and fans are now left to hope that Raimi was somehow able to include his wall-crawler in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Once upon a time, video game movie tie-ins were the norm, and, for the most part, they weren't so great. The Spider-Man ones were always fun, though, and Spider-Man 2 is a legit classic. Now, we have a first look at Xbox 360 footage from Radical Entertainment's scrapped Spider-Man 4.

They worked on this for a couple of years before learning that Spider-Man 4 wasn't moving forward, and Beenox went on to release The Amazing Spider-Man (pretty forgettable for the most part).

Based on the footage we see here, this could have been a good game, but the franchise has done just fine since. Insomniac's Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales have both received widespread critical acclaim, and a third chapter has now been confirmed to be in the works. That will likely focus on Venom and the Green Goblin as villains, though we're hoping that Peter and Miles will be playable.

What do you guys think about this Spider-Man 4 footage?
