Spider-Man is leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe, all that's really left to say is that it was nice while it lasted! While the hope was that this deal between Sony Pictures and Disney would continue for the foreseeable future, it was always hard to escape the feeling that might not be the case, and now the worst really has happened.

However, there are some people out there who are doing their best to bring some levity to what is an admittedly rather depressing situation. Memes making fun of what comes next for the wall-crawler in Sony's "Spider-Verse" have been doing the rounds for the past 24 hours, and we've rounded up some of the best ones for you to check out here.

We've also collected some of the best reactions on Twitter. Some are ridiculous, others are anger fuelled statements raging about what's happened, and a few are genuinely very insightful.

As fans, we find ourselves in a rubbish and disappointing situation which may or may not be resolved in the near future.  Things seem bleak right now, but to try and cheer yourselves up with this collection of memes and Tweets, all you have to do is hit the "View List" button down below!

Slightly off-topic: I just browsed through Avi Arad's iMDB page, and found out that when he's not butchering Spider-Man and other various characters connected to him, he's producing garbage like this.

I wanted to give some clarification because I’ve seen some misinformation on this site:

1. In the original deal, Marvel got 5 percent of the profit and Sony paid for 100 percent of the costs.

2. In the proposed new deal. Marvel would have gotten 50 percent of the profit BUT WOULD ALSO pay 50 percent of the costs.

3. At the same time though, Disney does get all the profits for toys and memorabilia items related to Spider-Man, but this deal was about the movies and had nothing to do with toys, books, comics, or tv shows whatsoever.

This deal has been mischaracterized by others on this website. These are the facts.

There's always a silver lining to every gray cloud guys. No Spidey in the MCU means they'll just fast track the Moon Knight movie.

Disney could've demanded 90% of the profits and Marvel fans would still find some way to justify that to themselves.

Everyone is disproportionately blaming Sony for this deal going sour.

Well as a long-time fan who has virtually every comic book of the character until the last Secret Wars... I couldn't care less. I'll never see the version of the character I love on the big screen anyway.

This is a problematic issue for both sides so I hope an agreement is reached. Disney maybe shouldn't have expected to get 50% of the profits, but it is obvious that they are the reason for Spidermans success after the ASM films. Sony needs to be thankful and realize that Marvel helped them out of a hole that they could find themselves back in very easily.

I hope if disney doesnt get spidey back they just start over at sony. I would rather seen sony make their crap spidey movie and it be Earth-617 and the mcu spider is Earth-616. Sony can tell whatever they want to with a new spiderman and if disney every gets the rights back or buys sony or something happens to get Spidey back, then they can continue the Earth-616 and ignore all the crap sony is doing with venon and morbius and whatever they do to spidey. This can be like a spiderverse.

haven't had a chance to post my feelings on this, a dumb ass josh article seems like the right place to do it. I'm really, really heartbroken about this. I know not everyone loved this version, but to me, a modern day teen, seeing this interpretation of Peter made sense. It fit with the world we currently live in, and Tom Holland absolutely nailed it. I'm so sad, as the MCU continues to be a true pleasure to me, and hope this can be resolved somehow, even if things are looking grim.
