SPIDER-MAN HOMECOMING Interview: Adrian Favela Details Filming The Movie's Deleted Decathlon Scene

The internet is ablaze with rumors and theories about this December's release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, but in the meantime, you can check out our new interview about a deleted scene from Homecoming!

Marvel is pulling out all the stops this year, with a schedule that includes releasing new MCU content every week. In addition to the first for WandaVision Marvel Studios Legends episodes, there will also be Making Ofs for each other project between releases. But even with new weekly content throughout all of 2021 in the form of Falcon & The Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Loki, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, What If?, Ms. Marvel, Eternals, and Hawkeye, many fans are fixated on this December's release of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The official title-reveal for the web-slinger's third outing came courtesy of the usual antics from Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon (Peter, MJ, and Ned) and fueled more theories about the potential multiverse elements that Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange will bring to the franchise. Until we get our first trailer for the film, fans will be reduced to speculation, but in the meantime, there is plenty left to discuss when it comes to both Homecoming and Far From Home.

When we recently chatted with actor Adrian Favela in support of the new Wrong Turn film, we did just that. As Favela is credited in Spider-Man: Homecoming as a decathlon member, we asked for more details on that scene and learned that a whole day of shooting surrounded the event, but most of it was left on the cutting room floor even though it included the main cast of the film.

"So I did make it to set. I had this little piece where it was a decathlon happening, and they just scrapped the whole thing. And I remember going to the theaters with my friends, being like, 'Oh my God, this is the part, it's coming up.' And then the whole thing was just gone completely; there was nothing about it. Maybe just like a glimpse of Zendaya going into the place, and then that was it.

But everybody was all together, and it was a decathlon setting. So it was just a long table with people shouting out answers to scientific questions. I think it was just one day of shooting. It was really quick, but yeah, that was my first time getting to understand that; even though you work on something, it doesn't mean it's going to come out. You gotta keep your head up and keep moving forward.

Most of the time we don't necessarily hear back about any of that stuff. There were lots of parts that were cut out, and we never get explanations, but I'm sure there are tons and tons of producers and then distributors and people who adjust to movies so many times. So things just get cut and left off. And unfortunately, a lot of that got cut down quite a bit, but I do understand that the movie is also two hours long. So there had to be cuts and they had to start chopping things out to make it cohesive."

You can listen to our full chat with Adrian Favela in support of the new Wrong Turn film and what he has to say about his Homecoming experience below. Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual spot!
