Well, This Is Awkward...SPIDER-MAN Is Featured On Disney's Marvel Studios Banner At D23 Well, This Is Awkward...SPIDER-MAN Is Featured On Disney's Marvel Studios Banner At D23

Marvel Studios is expected to promote its Phase 4 (and 5?) slate at D23 both today and tomorrow but with still no resolution to that Spider-Man problem, this banner is particularly awkward. Check it out...

Spider-Man: Far From Home made it clear that the wall-crawler was going to be a focal point of the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward, but with Disney and Sony unable to come to terms over the hero's future, things could get awkward for Marvel Studios at D23 this weekend.

Take this banner, for example; it's currently on display at the event and, as you can see, it features Spider-Man alongside Iron Man and Captain Marvel.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is expected to take the stage both today and tomorrow. This evening, Disney is holding a panel about the Disney+ streaming service, and tomorrow, we're expecting some Phase 4 and 5 reveals. There are bound to be questions about Spider-Man, and it's hard to imagine someone in the crowd not chanting for the web-slinger.

Nothing has changed with Spidey for now, but the hope is that the backlash will force both Disney and Sony to reconsider their current stance.

Insert boy looking at butterfly meme

Josh: (looking at Iron Man) "Is this a Black Panther?"

*"and, as you can see, it puts Spider-Man front and centre alongside Black Panther and Captain Marvel."*

The banner must have been made before the fallout. Damn. A Sony Character, a dead character and their worst super hero. Should've gone with Thor or Black Widow.

That would be weird regardless of the deal, considering Spidey's films aren't nearly as "in-house" as Marvel's other movies

Seems like a strange thing to do considering contracting talk has been an ongoing issue

Maybe Disney just don't care and wanted to flex regardless

Well i mean it still kinda works with iron man on there. We all know iron man also isn't gonna be part of the mcu moving forward...too soon?

@CaptShipwreck - If that's true then the execs who orchestrated it should be fired

Rumor has it Spider-Man is back with Disney already.

Spider-man on the D23 banner lines up with the rumor.

I was thinking about, and actually Spider-Man's arc in the MCU is already pretty fulfilled. Having him in his own universe might actually benefit the character in my opinion.

Now for that banner, they should've put Black Panther and Doctor Strange on there instead in the first place

Remember when Feige said last year that the title "Far From Home" would have double meaning?
And remember when back in January, the writer of "Venom" said that there's a big possibility that Spider-Man might feature in the next Venom movie?

It was all right there, and we just couldn't see it.

D23 is a celebration of all things Disney, and regardless of anything else, Disney still owns Spider-man the character even if Sony declines to make a deal regarding future films, so it’s not really that awkward. I mean, Iron Man is up there too, and all of his Disney film appearances would seem to be in the past...

Disney is being cocky stating win over this before it ends Disney should feel stupid if they don’t succeed I personally don’t care what happens it’s interesting who will win how they will win

So a banner that was made several weeks if not months before in preparation for D23 wasn't altered for news that was delivered just this week? Shocking.

I wish disney would give Sony some room and not play such hard ball. I think a fair deal would be 35% but disney would give Sony 5% merch sales.

I'm seeing a few rumours that a 70/30 deal is agreed with multiple other terms and conditions?
