BOX OFFICE: David Ayer's SUICIDE SQUAD Could Lose The Top Spot This Weekend
David Ayer's Suicide Squad has been king of the box office for the last three weeks, but this weekend could see the cinematic debut of Task Force X lose its place at the top of the list...
Against all odds, David Ayer's Suicide Squad has ruled the box office for the last three weeks, shrugging off negative reviews and taking in almost $600 million worldwide. Unfortunately, its reign could be at an end this weekend with the release of the horror film, Don't Breathe, from writer and director Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead).
According to projections from The Hollywood Reporter, Don't Breathe is expected to win the weekend with $11 million-$14 million, with Suicide Squad expected to make approximately $10 million after a 52.1% drop last weekend. However, it's not all bad news for Task Force X, as Jason Statham's Mechanic sequel, Mechanic: Resurrection, is expected to debut between $6 million-$8million, so it's likely that Suicide Squad will remain at #2.
