Jai Courtney Talks SUICIDE SQUAD Backlash, Marvel Vs. DC, And A Possible Role In THE FLASH

Suicide Squad star Jai Courtney has weighed in on the negative critical response to the movie as well as the differences between Marvel and DC and whether or not he may end up appearing in The Flash...

MTV's Josh Horowitz recently sat down to talk to Suicide Squad star Jai Courtney for his "Happy Sad Confused!" podcast (via Batman-News) and the host was quick to ask the actor about whether or not he was surprised by the negative response to the movie from fans and critics alike. Saying he stops listening if things get "too noisy," the actor went on to express his desire to still return to the franchise.

"How do you please everyone? And I don't think Suicide Squad ever intended to.... So no one's setting out to upset the fan base, certainly not a fan base that can be as loyal as this kind of crowd can. But I don't know how you can push the envelope or try and protect something [without taking risks].....I know what I like in a movie, and it's not the same thing as my twelve-year-old niece....It's a challenge, and David [Ayer] did an incredible job, and I sure as hell hope we get to make another one with him."

Asked to weigh in on the whole Marvel vs. DC argument, Courtney explained the differences between the two companies and what they're attempting to achieve with their movies. "They’ve had the time to let that shit marinate. Everything’s established now, we don’t have to figure out who anyone is. It’s like ‘Cool. Get them all together and let’s have a f*cking orgy and make a billion dollars.'"

That's certainly a pretty interesting perspective on the differences between the two companies, but the conversation soon returned to the DC Films Universe and whether or not we might see Courtney reprise the role of Captain Boomerang in The Flash movie. "Is that the rumor?" he asked. "I like that rumor. I like that a lot." It seems like we'll just have to wait and see then, but fingers crossed!
