Jared Leto Says A Lot Of His Joker Scenes Were Cut From SUICIDE SQUAD

With reports of competing cuts of Suicide Squad being worked on by WB and Davd Ayer, is there a version somewhere that contains a lot more of the Joker? Could we be headed for another Ultimate Edition?

Without diving too far into spoiler territory, most reviewers agree that Jared Leto's Joker leaves a lot to be desired. But in a recent interview, Leto revealed that many of the scenes he filmed for Suicide Squad were left on the cutting room floor.  As a fan, that's pretty disapointing to hear considering he's been featured so heavily in the film's marketing.  While promoting the movie in the UK, Leto told TeleStar, “There are a lot of scenes that didn’t make it to the final film.  Hopefully they will see the light of day. Who knows.”  His statement instantly bring to mind the recent reports of multiple cuts of the film being assembled by Warner Bros. and David Ayer.  Seperate reports from The Wrap and The Holywood Reporter both state that the theatrical cut from WB is not the version of the film intended by Ayer and that WB's decisions were being made in light of the backlash from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.  Perhaps Ayer will see his cut of the film released on Blu-ray/DVD?

The perported behind-the-scenes drama surrounding the film's post-production asserts that WB felt Ayer's cut was way too dark and morbid which could certainly explain why a lot of Leto's scenes were cut from the film.  Trailers and TV spots for the film featured Joker shooting guns, conducting torture and rampaging through the streets of Gotham.  Perhaps Ayer's original vision for the Clown Prince of Crime took him down dark corridors typically reserved for mature comic book stories such as The Killing Joke or A Death in the Family?

FILM SYNOPSIS:  It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?
