Despite saying he was done talking about his original "Ayer Cut" of Suicide Squad, director David Ayer continues to tease fans with a new image of Morbius star Jared Leto as the Clown Prince of Crime.

Warner Bros. ultimately gave in and released the "Snyder Cut" of Justice League, but the chances of that happening with Suicide Squad's "Ayer Cut" appear to be extremely slim.

When James Gunn's sequel/reboot arrived in theaters and on HBO Max back in August, director David Ayer took to Twitter to issue a lengthy statement. Reiterating that his version of the 2016 movie was vastly different to what Warner Bros. released, he concluded by stating, "I will no longer speak publicly on this matter." Well, that didn't last long, as the filmmaker just dropped another social media tease.

This time, he's shared a never-before-seen image of Jared Leto as The Joker, accompanied by a message stating, "Jared killed it...But no one knows."

At this point, we do know, as it's been mentioned several times. Leto reprised the role of the Clown Prince of Crime in Zack Snyder's Justice League for a memorable epilogue, but the Oscar-winner now appears to have moved on from the role as he's got Sony's Morbius on the horizon.

It remains to be seen whether Ayer will continue to tease Suicide Squad, but after The Suicide Squad underperformed, it's hard to imagine revisiting this franchise is a priority for Warner Bros. in any form (HBO Max's Peacemaker was in development long before that movie was released).

It’s hard to believe such a talented actor like Leto put out such a shitty performance as joker. It makes me a tad bit curious if maybe he wasn’t so bad. Although the aesthetic they went with was a terrible idea can’t believe ever got past a concept piece for the drawing board at best. But that’s what they landed on. Insane really. Snyder definitely made it so at least I would’ve liked to see him explored more. Minus the reach around comment lol

@comics4life - I'm sure the Ayer cut will suck just as bad as the Snyder cut. I mean it couldn't be any worse.

I know this is a very minor gripe, and there is NO reason for anyone to care about this, but I am really tried of reading the word, "tease" in these articles. It seems everything everyone in the industry says is a "tease", even though, I'm pretty a lot of it isn't really meant to "tease", but are just answers to questions.

P.S. I didn't mean that for this article.

Regarding this article, I actually suspect I would enjoy the film more than what was released. So, bring it on. It's no loss on my part; I can watch it or not. There is no reason for me to NOT want it released. Again, I don't have to see it; but I would.

He may have "killed it", but then Ayer killed all his chances with that beyond-stupid look he slapped on him. "Damaged" OH, THE EDGE. FOH with that gangster-pimp alligator-suit tattoos-&-grills so-called Joker.

Leto could have been stellar in the role, if he hadn't been let down by terribly poor material.

I genuinely don’t care if his cut performance was the greatest (for a crazy clown) acting performance ever out to screen. The guys a [frick]ing mental creep.

"Jared killed it. But no one knows"

He is right. Given all the footage of Leto's terrible try-hard Joker in the extended cut and his very terrible and cringe-inducing return in the Snyder Cut, no one would think he killed it with this character. Especially after seeing how much better he seems as Morbius just from the couple minutes of footage in the trailers

And this is such obvious and manipulative begging for a Director's Cut, no wonder he thinks something so cringe and try-hard was excellent

We saw all we needed to see in the Snyder Cut. Leto is an awful Joker so just move on please.

Despite people growing tired of Ayer, I'm confident that a lot of people here would end up watching his cut if it were released.

@Nightwing1015 - Despite people growing tired of death, I'm confident that a lot of people here would end up slowing down to look at a car accident.

@Reeds2Much - IDK just seems a little weird that people are complaining about the possibility of the Ayer cut being made public when many of these same people would still watch it - showing that they were indeed interested in viewing it, regardless of their reasons.

@Nightwing1015 - If they're so interested in seeing it then why are they complaining about it? Just because I'd slow down to see a traffic accident doesn't mean I'd let someone drive drunk.

Basically you're confusing the willingness to see something with the desire to see it.
