The Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie recently sat down for an interview with Josh Horowitz, and it didn't take long for the subject of the "Ayer Cut" to come up. While the "Snyder Cut" of Justice League has become a reality, David Ayer's original vision for 2016's Suicide Squad seemingly remains on the cutting room floor.
There's definitely a vocal fanbase who would like to see it become a reality, but whether Warner Bros. takes notice could hinge on how successful Zack Snyder's Justice League proves to be.
As for Robbie's take on a director's cut of Suicide Squad, she told Horowitz: "I never saw the Ayer Cut. I know we shot a lot of stuff that didn't make it into the movie. I would be very curious myself." The interviewer then mentioned that Jared Leto is getting the chance to return as The Joker for Justice League, and the news seemingly came as a surprise to the actress as she responded, "Really? I didn't know that. Cool."
Talking of comic book movie roles, Robbie and director Miles Joris-Peyrafitte were also asked about their Tank Girl project, and the filmmaker explained that it's on hold right now due to COVID. The actress, meanwhile, is a big fan of the source material. "I've never seen the film. I've only read the comics. It's so sick...they're amazing."
Of course, another big project Robbie is reportedly being eyed for is a Pirates of the Caribbean reboot, and all she'd say on that front is, "Maybe. It's early days. I shan't say no more...for now."
