As is often the case when a new superhero movie is on the way, there's been a lot of speculation about the run-time of The Suicide Squad, and director James Gunn has now taken to Twitter to confirm...

For whatever reason, a movie's run-time has become a frequently debated topic of late (maybe people want schedule bathroom breaks?), and The Suicide Squad director James Gunn has decided not to leave us in suspense any longer by taking to Twitter to officially reveal that his DC Comics "requel" will take up 2 hours and 12 minutes of your precious time.

Not exactly butt-numbing, but still long enough to test the patience (and attention spans) of those who feel no "superhero" movie should ever exceed the 2-hour mark.

More interestingly, Gunn also revealed that The Suicide Squad will indeed feature a post-credits scene, though he didn't give any indication of what it might entail.

"Welcome to hell — a.k.a. Bell Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out — even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today's do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin, and everyone's favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese."
"Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and- destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave...and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them."

We recently found out that the movie was officially rated R for "strong violence and gore, language throughout, some sexual references, drug use and brief graphic nudity."

The Suicide Squad is set to premiere on HBO Max and in theaters on August 6.

@ClungeZilaVDong - It's James Gunn. It'll be amazing. And then we'll be stuck with a Burtonverse/Snyderverse DCEU Frankenstein mash-up forevermore.

@GwenLantern - @GwenLantern - nothing James Gunn makes is “amazing”. His best film is Guardians 1 and that’s because his co writer Nicole Perlman provided the film he made, essentially, and he wrote dick jokes on top of the plot. Perlman is the one who invented Star Lords cassette tape memento. And Gunn tried to tell every journalist he re wrote her entire script but clearly not the case considering the SGA gave her the co writer credit

In a post-credit scene, I hope to see Starro reproducing asexually. An asexual reproduction similar to that of the starfish.

From Starro's remains, little Starros will begin to appear.

A part of me is sort of happy to see Starro on the big creen. But seeing how it's most likely going to be a light-hearted appearance, i'm kinda dissappointed that we may not get an apocalyptic starro invasion.

I am all for a rated r comic movie with nudity in it but it kinda has to fit. I feel DC throws it in just to be edgy. Like the whole robin f Batman like it had no point of being in there.

The obsession with runtimes is just so annoying at this point.

@RafaelTorres - Yes, I don't understand why anyone even cares enough to ask. It is something some people might need to know before they go see it in case it helps determine what time they see it (in case of time limitations). Of course, they have to add about 20 minutes to that for trailers and commercials.

Can’t get hyped for this. I know it’s the point, but none of these characters will matter after this movie. We’re going to be left with Harley (again) and a John Cena prequel series I have no interest in. I’m so beyond excited for the Batman but everything else DC is throwing at the wall just isn’t doing it for me.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - I understand. But, of course, there is an audience for this sort of thing. With so many dying, it actually helps keep people from thinking that there is no risk, since the heroes rarely die.

As a young boy in the seventies, I loved some of the disaster flicks (Earthquake, The Poseidon Adventure, The Towering Inferno, etc.) because I "could" get invested in these characters and actually fear for them because I knew some of them would actually die.

Plus, it will be fun for many (including me).

Why do I feel like "brief graphic nudity" is probably code for "male full frontal"? Usually when there's female nudity or male butt involved it will just say "nudity". Therefore there's no need to add the "graphic" in front of it. And if it has to do with sex it will generally say "strong sexual situations" or something like that. Meanwhile this has "sexual references" (which probably alludes to the whole "suck a beach full of dicks" scene we saw in the trailer). So all of that tells me the graphic nudity HAS to either be something violent involving nudity that's played out onscreen, (like Arm-Fall-Off-Boy losing his junk) or male nudity. Let's hope it's Elba, Cena, or Kinnaman proudly displaying their manhoods in a close up shot on an IMAX screen 3 stories tall. (I'll even go for Fillion losing his junk onscreen as long as it's funny.)

@BecauseICare - There is a penis in the trailer. It's furry, but still human.

@BecauseICare - This is interesting. I asked Google what "graphic nudity" in movies means, and I could NOT find an "official" answer (and I spent about twenty minutes on this after I read your comment).

The closest I could find was from something Roger Ebert wrote in 2007,

"The MPAA's R rating cites "graphic nudity"; that means not only that they are nude, but that you can see that they are nude."

@LSHF - So if somebody changes in a changing room and we only see outside the changing room... it still counts as nudity?

@BrettMan - If it turns our Weasel's song is the reason for the "graphic nudity" verbiage, I will be VERY disappointed. Hell, if we have to be subjected to animal dick, make it King Shark's dick! At least that has the potential for funny.

"graphic nudity", per something Roger Ebert wrote in 2007, means:
