While all eyes may be on Black Widow right now, we're also just over a month away from getting to experience The Suicide Squad. Set to be released in both in theaters and on HBO Max, there's a lot of excitement surrounding the DC Comics adaptation, and we now have a closer look at each member of Task Force X on these cool new magazine covers shared by James Gunn.

There's also a special cover by superstar DC artist Jim Lee, and his spin on this eclectic team of bad guys is definitely striking. All the characters here look great, though, and it's the big Starro tease on the cover with Amanda Waller and The Thinker that's really grabbed our attention. That's an intriguing trio of villains, and something tells us they're probably connected somehow!

Check out these new Empire Magazine covers for The Suicide Squad below:

Jim Lee would follow Gunn's Tweet by sharing a finished version of the artwork above and, as you can see, it pays homage to a famous Suicide Squad comic book cover by Howard Chaykin.

"Welcome to hell — a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A," reads the synopsis. "Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese."

"Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and- destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave...and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them."

The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6th, 2021.

Also glad they were able to get a "Joel Kinnaman" type guy to play Flag.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - it'd be hilarious if he's the only one to survive.

One month from release and I still can't find any excitement for this movie. I might just check it out on matinee or even wait for home release.

Anybody else here got a digital hoarding problem or is it just me?

I see neat stuff like this I gotta save it. I've hard drives full of crap like this.

One day, there'll be a solar flare and *POOF!* all gone. No more neat Jim Lee Empire covers. Just empty hard drives.

Thinker already has a big head, and the cover makes it look even bigger. Nice

I think Clifford DeVoe became a Thinker in an experiment. The experiment will be based on Starro's powers. So the suicide mission is to enter a Corto Maltese fortress, escape with Thinker and save their lives. But if Thinker doesn't escape, the Suicide Squad dies. He is the mission.
