Supergirl currently has a successful TV series, but Warner Bros. is developing a new solo film for the hero, and while it's still in the early stages of development, a new report seemingly reveals the studios' first choice for director.

According to the folks at Omega Underground, The Handmaid's Tale director Reed Morano is at the top of Warner Bros. wish list. However, the site also notes that, while Morano is their first choice, they've yet to reach out to the director with an offer.

This news lines up with a previous report which revealed that the studio wanted a female director to take the reins of The Girl of Steel's next big-screen adventure.

As expected, no release date for Supergirl has been set, but Oren Uziel (Cloverfield Paradox) attached to write the script for the new DC movie.
