That Superman radio show having a role in bringing down the KKK is still one of my favorite Superman stories.

''Someone Reportedly Tried To Shoot George Reeves.'' Richard Donner shot him a couple things (poor joke, I know).

''It's a strange occurrence without a clear explanation.'' Guess the Superman writers like alliterations as much as Stan Lee did.

There will have been 2 WW movies, 2 SS movies, multiple Batman movies... and yet Superman has 1 movie... and HE is the one hero that has his own "day" recognized worldwide...
SIGH
Thank you DC for your support of what THE WORLD recognizes yet you stand blind to.

As cheesy as Smallville could be, I'm surprised they never attempted to do Lori Lemaris.

R.I.P. Dennis O’Neil

@BlackBeltJones - Nooooooo!
@Nomis

😭 He is one of the greats and deserves a lot of credit for more realism or maturity in comics, and I don’t mean sex or graphic violence, either. His stories could still have fantasy, sci-if elements and everything else associated with comic books, but they were no longer just for kids. Don’t get me wrong, Marvel started this with superhero stories with Lee and Kirby, but O’Neill, IMHO was a much better writer. Too bad he isn’t the one writing the recent Batman stories that are illustrated by Neal Adams

@RolandD - I read his Green Lantern #85-86 when I was around 12. I had read his Batman stuff before hand which was great but that classic GL comic with Speedy being revealed as an addict just hit different. Seeing a sidekick, a hero dealing with such a real, human problem.

He really was a pioneer for superhero comics taking a mature turn.

@BlackBeltJones - Damn. He was instrumental in digging the Batman titles out of their previous lighter era and making them genuine competition for Marvel. Only met him once. No ego.

RolandD - 6/12/2020, 10:45 AM
@BlackBeltJones - Absolutely! I am old enough that I bought and read those comics as a kid when they came out. I was excited when I saw O’Neill and Grell were reviving GL/GA, but it was just basic superhero stories. For the time, the age of relevance, which is how they referred to those ‘70’s era GL/GA stories, had passed. It didn’t sell comics despite all the accolades.

@RolandD - They were a perfect combination: O'Neil and Adams.

@BillyBatson1000 - Exactly. The Joker was last seen as a goofy villain until The Joker’s Five Way Revenge.

@RolandD - Yep. And some of the best runs ever on The Bat/Detective titles. Then his later work on Legends. Magic.

@BillyBatson1000 - Just add in Giordano, who did most of the inking on many of those classics tales. A damn fine penciler in his own right as well.

I think in the right hands pink kryptonite could be well done. Though knowing trends now itll be retconned as essentially making superman more willing to come out of the closet.
