@LNBfett12 - yep...this looks like something these kids would be interested in these days...have you heard the music they listen to? That should give you abit of insight on what direction the world is going in.

@DoctorDoomSayer - I've never heard their music. Although, that mostly because I stick to Alt Rock, and Punk music. I use the internet to find similar music instead of relying on the radio for new sounds.

It subverts my expectations on what makes a good ninja Turtles cartoon.

This looks like its primary goal is to sell toys to very young kids. I get no sense of creative ambition or desire to put a refreshing spin on the storytelling of the franchise. I wish it aimed higher so that it could be enjoyed by fans of all ages, but I'm not going to get upset about something that's not meant for me.

Jus like the original series.
Most of our cherished childhood shows were designed for just that.

I was watching the original TMNT movie and it doesn't get enough love. It's great.

I'm not watching this show. Hope he does well and doesn't kill the brand.

@Pitydafool - I just recently got into the TMNT franchise myself (I'm 26, and grew up with Power Rangers, still prefer the Rangers to the Turtles, but that's off topic). Finished the 1987 series, just started the 2003 series (in the middle of the second season actually), and watched all the movies (excluding the Michael Bay movies (might watch them later, not sure)).

However, I agree with your point on "not watching this show" which is sad for both of us because it's a great franchise/brand. It's like a love letter to Japanese culture from an American/US-citizen perspective. I would hate to see this brand die off because Nickelodeon can't figure out how to handle the brand. Especially with these trailers/clips reminding me of Teen Titans Go with the level of quality I see in the writing, and animation reminds me of that new Thundercat's reboot which also looks bad and has the same level of writing.

I'm not gonna hate on the show because clearly it isn't for me. I still have the three shows (even though from what I read on Wikipedia, the 2003 series got butchered with missing episodes, and an unaired/released season (and I still need to see the 2012 series)), and movies to enjoy for my TMNT fix. I just find it to be a shame that I won't have a "new" show to enjoy in the meantime because clearly this show isn't aimed at either of us. Which is a bit disappointing, but whatever, I'll just focus on other interests.

Hopefully the next rumored films (which I hear will be a reboot) will be better, and more aimed at us for our enjoyment.

@Beerus - This is were I settled at. I love TMNT. Outside of Green Lantern it's my favorite property.

This show isn't for me. Im more annoyed at the remaking of certain personalities then the art style. Still unless this was a serious comic accurate take on TMNT I wasn't going to make time to watch...I'm too busy.

my only wish is that this show isn't so bad that it kills all interest in TMNT for kids.

I really hope the new movies are high quality and closer to the first movies tone.

@Beerus - The 2003 series is probably the best incarnation of the TMNT, even though you have get prepared for a much lower quality in animation and writing for season 6 and 7. (I'm also currently watching it, in the middle of S7 now).

The original show and movies are classics and I heard many good things from the 2012 show, which I will watch for the first time when I start it.

Maybe you should also check out the current comic books, which are pretty good.

@BootyPeep - Oh cool so I'm not the only one new to the TMNT fandom. I gotta ask, when does April start fighting? I'm just asking because I started watching all the TMNT after watching 'Turtles Forever' (which I'm gonna go back and watch after finishing the 2003 series) and I noticed she was a fighter, but currently she isn't. I'm also bummed that she isn't in this show as much as she was in the 1987 series. On another note, I do like how Casey Jones is handled in this show compared to his 1987 counterpart who felt like a one-note joke.

Yeah, the original show was great. I know that show wasn't 100% faithful to what the creator wanted, but I still enjoyed it. I actually found it hard to pick a favorite turtle from the show because all four brought something different to the team, and were just great overall. Also the voice actors that were pick for their respective roles were perfect (when they used said actor, and kept them for said role). Movies were fun too, and I look forward to checking out the 2012 series (they also crossover with the 1987 version of the characters, and David Tennant's in it).

I'll try to check out the comics. My problem is getting around to reading, I've been wanting to catch up the MHA manga, but I keep losing track of time to do it. I did find an interesting comic though where April became a Ninja Turtle one time. Not sure if it was a one-shot (or if there was more to it), but the way it read and from what I had seen of it, it was pretty short.

@Beerus - Oh, I'm not new, but I just decided to refresh it xD.
The thing is, in Germany they only aired the first two seasons of the 2003 show, so everything from season 3 and following was pretty new to me.
April starts fighting around season 3 or 4, if I remember correctly. And yes, Casey is great compared his 1987 incarnation.
And just until you see what this show has in store for the Shredder.

It's also nice to see a fellow MHA fan.

Well those are some unexpected and amusing castings. Wonder if Heady's going to give Big Mama a Southern accent or something. Kinda made me think of when Amy Sedaris played the matriarch of the Trenchbillies in that one Spongebob episode. And holy crap, they got Johnny Rotten in a TMNT cartoon. God save the queen!

Beerus - 7/20/2018, 5:03 AM
@dracula - To be fair, TMNT already had three series (1987, 2003, and 2012), and all of them were pretty good. A few stinkers are bound to come out every once in a while. It clearly isn't for me so I'll be avoiding it like the plague until it's over. Hopefully the next reboot (whenever that happens) will be better than this show. Which honestly reminds me of Teen Titans Go, and that new Thundercats reboot that was recently announced.

What did they do to Leo?
Beerus
Beerus - 7/20/2018, 5:07 AM
@dracula - The real question is, what did they do to ALL of the Turtles!?

Again though, this show isn't aimed at us which is a disappointment. Still though, I wish they would have been faithful to the characters. That being said, if Peter Laird wasn't too happy with the 1987 cartoon series then this reboot must have him not only fuming, but also regretting the fact that he sold all of the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' rights to Nickelodeon.

If you are going to change every single thing about the characters in a TMNT show then.... maybe you don’t want to actually make a TMNT show????

Read the Mirage Comics cannon issues and you’ll have the pleasure of reading some of the greatest comics ever. At least the 2K3 show told those tales. Every other incarnation has been just extended toy marketing campaigns. This being by far the worst looking crap I’ve ever seen. I really hate this “postmodern” cartoon style.
