While this will come as a surprise to absolutely no one, Sony has removed the upcoming reboot of The Crow from their release schedule. The announcement was made on the Exhibitor Relations Twitter page late this afternoon, closing the door (probably for good) on the potential remake.

Aquaman star Jason Momoa was set as the lead in the film with Corin Hardy lined up to helm the project. Sony was getting cold feet about the movie before Mamoa and Hardy exited because of creative and financial differences with The Crow rights holder Samuel Hadida and his Davis Films production company. The inability of the production and distributing company to come together on the project lead to the lead actor and director jumping ship.

The Crow reboot had been mired in development hell, and finally looked as if it was going to get made before this latest setback. The original release date for the remake was October 11, 2019, but with no star, no director and no distributing company, it will be anyone guess as to when or even if The Crow remake will ever fly again.

@DeadWade213 - I dont like the idea of them doing this anyway. They murdered Bruce Lee's son making this movie.

@DeadWade213 - Hopefully never. Even James O’Barr doesn’t want it to happen.

This movie is just as in development hell like John Ridely's mysterious Marvel project since 2014.

Wow.

I guess this production was just too crow-ded.

Good. This is a movie that should never be remade. If you absolutely have to do another crow movie, make it something different, not a remake of a movie that will never be done better.

Glad to hear this! I'd much prefer NEW explorations than remakes! I remember getting pretty mad when I heard the rock wanting to remake Big Trouble in Little China. Some things should just be left alone.

Gotta make space for that Spider-Manless Spider-Man universe.

Look. If this movie has to be made get someone like Darren Aronofsky to direct it. At least that way it can be a unique remake even if inferior to the original.

And now they concentrate on their Valiant movies. Let’s see X-O Manowar, Ninjak, and Shadowman!

Yes! This movie doesn't need or WANT to be re-made. It was cursed from the beginning. When it's time we'll get a proper one but all the issues, for decades, give me an weird feeling. Leave it be.
