Ezra Miller And Geoff Johns Discuss FLASHPOINT Movie; Confirm That Batman Will Play A Role In The Story

Of course, the question is, which Batman! During a new interview, Justice League star Ezra Miller and Geoff Johns offer some very interesting updates on the planned Flashpoint film. More past the jump...

For many, Geoff Johns' 2011 Flashpoint remains one of the best Scarlet Speedster stories out there, so there was a lot of excitement generated when we got the surprise announcement at SDCC this year that the solo Flash movie would actually adapt this comic arc.

By all accounts, there isn't actually a completed script yet so not even star Ezra Miller knows exactly how faithful the film will be to the source material, but the actor did offer a positive update on its progress when quizzed about it by EW:

“The development of the project has been a little Barry Allen-like in its mercurial tendencies,” Miller admits. “But it looks more promising and more exciting than any of the other stages of development that we’ve been in.”

Flashpoint features several alternate/evil versions of classic DC characters, and one in particular plays a vital role in the proceedings: a far more ruthless incarnation of Batman that just happens to be Bruce Wayne's father.

We don't know if the big screen adaptation will follow suit in that regard, but Johns does confirm that a Batman will feature in some capacity.

Johns — who co-created the TV series and has a lead creative role in the DC Extended Universe — says the live-action film will explore new ground. “There’s elements in it that we’re going to be playing into that we couldn’t do anywhere else,” Johns explains. “The scale of it, the Batman story of it all.”

The Walking Dead's Jeffrey Dean Morgan appeared briefly as Thomas Wayne in Batman V Superman, and many fans hope to see him return for Flashpoint. However, Warner Bros, could decide to tweak the story in order to introduce a younger Batman, which would allow them to recast the role should Ben Affleck decide to hang up the cowl.

In any case, until there's a finished script on the table this is all subject to change - but do let us know how you'd like to see Flashpoint play out in the comments section.
