Talking at the movie's world premiere, Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi and star Chris Hemsworth shared some fun comments about the latter's highly anticipated nude scene in the blockbuster.

The Thor: Love and Thunder trailer took the title character to Olympus and showed us more of the God of Thunder than we ever expected to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Thor's butt won't be pixelated in the movie itself, just the few censored seconds of footage from the scene we've been treated to has generated a lot of excitement online.

Talking at the movie's world premiere earlier this week, Chris Hemsworth explained why he was willing to bare all for his latest appearance in the MCU.

"It was 10 years in the making that scene - kind of a dream of mine," the actor says in the video below. "The first time I played Thor I took my shirt off and I thought, 'You know what’s gonna sweeten this? A decade from now it’s all gonna come off."

"I had had [my butt] out in 'Rush' many years ago," Hemsworth would go on to acknowledge. "In a Marvel film, it was a very large screen, it was a very big pair of cheeks, and, I don’t know, I had seen it before. Whatever [Laughs]."

Director Taika Waititi also chimed in on the importance of that scene, saying: "I feel like we had all talked about it. We had talked about, ‘Yeah, we gotta show off this body.’ My whole thing was like, Chris works so hard, you’ve gotta show it off. Don’t cover it up with all these suits and the cape and stuff, it’s not fair!"

They're clearly having fun with the response the scene has generated, and it looks like a very funny moment in the movie itself. Seeing it in context should be even better, and we've no doubt many of you will appreciate that pixelation being removed.

We actually got to pose our own question to Hemsworth at this week's global press conference for Thor: Love and Thunder, so check back here tomorrow for details!

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.

Soo Austin Butler is going to win an Oscar for Elvis... Holy crap that was a great movie. Once the crazy almost acid trip beginning settles down. WOW

@bobevanz - He should win Best Actor. I just hope Elvis isn't too early in the year and they forget to nominate it.

@bobevanz

He was great and is guaranteed a nom imo. Even more impressive when Tom Hanks gives what might be his worst performance.

@bobevanz - so people said the movie looked bad. Glad it’s proving them wrong. It looked great for me.

@MyCoolYoung

Haha, it was bad. There were times when I wanted to laugh watching him waddle around and his accent was rough…

But I enjoyed the movie. Mostly due to Austin Butler and despite being 2.5 hours, it moves really fast. I struggle calling it “good” but if you like Baz Luhrmann you’ll enjoy it.

@bobevanz - nah. It's not even a great Elvis movie. He was the best part of the film but it wasn't Oscar worthy IMO

@TheSuperMex - it's a weird over-modernized montages film with rap in the sound track. It's okay, at best. So many better biopics out there.

@regularmovieguy - damn now I know when I see it that's all I'll hear lol but I'm definitely going to give it a watch soon

I was just gonna bring up Rush if they didn't. Though I think I was mostly paying attention to Natalie Dormer's butt in that scene.

Says it all about how fitting he or Waititi are for Thor. Thor's butt is more important to them than Warriors Three or Sif. Garbage.

Now have a woman be asked about her nudity during a press tour and watch heads explode or watch her get incredibly offended.

Hell, Scarlett Johansson got offended because a reporter asked her if she wore underwear under her catsuit in Avengers.

But really, who cares about his Butt, except for Disney who used digital hair to cover Daryl Hannah’s bare butt in Splash.

But that’s not a double standard. Of course not,

@SpaceParanoids - Preach, bro. This shit is overdone at this point. Like, if my memory serves me right, Thor has been objectified for seven films in a row. From the first shirtless scene he had till now. All they've been doing is tell how hot Chris Hemsworth is. Like, cool, we get it, not funny anymore. Imagine if they did that with Black Widow, have everyone gush over her, have people touching her and saying that her body is like a work of art, like how Guardians reacted to first seeing Thor. Those Twitter thots with didgets in their names bullied Whedon into oblivion for that one scene in AoU about Natasha's inability to give birth, now imagine how they would react to this shit.

But, anyway, this movie will suck, most likely. So not having naked Thor wouldn't change much.

@SpaceParanoids - Women are objectified to the point where they can't get film roles if they refuse to do nudity. Read a book.

Splash is PG for little kids, Marvel movies are PG-13.
